I have played the first portion of the game. I am stuck because I have done everything (it seems to me) necessary and it is time for the lights to go out. But they won't. I have all the inventory I have read about, I have the batteries in the flashlight, I have talked until no one will speak to me anymore. I have inspected all the rooms. What could I have missed? I am getting s..o s..l...e...e..p..y. Thank you for any help. Doris

Doris, I haven't played this--is this the end of Chapter 1?

Hi Doris,
Have you closely examined all possible items and documents within your inventory? Have you eavesdropped at the dining room door?

yes, I have done all those things. I have combined several things in the inventory. I think this is the end of part I or will be when it goes dark. The dinner meal is over and i listened in twice.

Have you listened to both sides of the record?

Hi Doris, I played it and got stuck at the same place because I didn't listen to the other side of the record so take L4L's advice, I think she is right

The getting dark part is in Chapter 2. In Chapter 1, you have to pick up all items and study them in inventory. Also talk to everyone. Take care of Mrs. Marston and the murder occurs. Check the walkthrough - here to see if you have done everything.

Back again. I have been outside and am now back in. I find (for whatever reason) I did not get all the things in the shed and cannot continue. I didn't give the goat water or use the ladder? and get more apples off the trees. Anyway, the point is I am inside, it is dark again. I have found the secret room but I cannot get back outside because of the storm. How do I get back out? Thanks again for any help. Doris

Sorry so long to reply, I just now was back at the game. I am into the grotto and again stuck, I thought I needed stuff that I would find in the shed to continue but as I said I can't get outside. I am wandering aimlessly. Any little "trigger" I need it unstick my self?

Raft? I have a yellow boat thingie that needs to be blown up but altho I have the boat and the hose, I don't have the blower or whatever it takes to make it into a boat. I didn't understand when you said I "can try to go back to the mansion via the door you entered in." I am IN the mansion and can't get out. Sorry to be such a pest but HELP!!!!! thanks MaG

Yes, I see that, but I don't have a shovel. I somehow missed quite a few objects in the shed and nearby before I got locked in the mansion again. dumb me

Doris, if you need the shovel and yet the game won't let you back outside to revisit the shed, then there must be something else inside the house you haven't done yet.
To spare you any more wandering around, let me know if you would like me to send you a save just prior to entering the Grotto, in the Safe Room at the drawer puzzle. The shovel and anything else you need should be in the inventory.

No, thanks. I will wander around some more. If it is not a known glitch in the game, I will work on it some more. Frustrating but surely not undoable.

Well thank you for the idea. I had every save, so I am getting back on track now. I did see where I went wrong. After talking to a couple of guys in front of the shed, one said the shed is empty and then the scene changed to the dining room. And there I was back inside ...forever imprisoned ....ah well, a bit dramatic perhaps. Thanks again. PS I still don't have the fan or the blower or whatever to inflate the raft when I go back inside. Got a hint? That generator in the shed? I can't impact on it.
