Since I have questions about the game, I thought I should make a thread so it doesn't get lost under other topics.

I decided to try out VV2 (I demo'd 1 but didn't like it, however I found 2 interesting).

Now, I understand that if you minimize the game and do not pause it keeps playing. However, if I shut the game down completely, I will pick up exactly where I left off right? Someone made a comment in another thread that almost sounded like if I wait 2 days to start the game back up, it will have kept going and they'll all be dead.

Tips please?

Patricia, I read that same post and wondered the same thing but I haven't played any of the games. I found some tips and tricks but they did not address that.

I'll be a veteran player will be along soon with the answer though. wave

Hi Patricia,

I am not an expert on these types of games but I did write the walkthrough for VV3 and I have to say that I became a fan. The game seems slow but when you put forth in motion things for your villagers to do before you go to sleep, by the time you wake up those things will be completed.

For example, the villagers have to push a broken statue up a hil....that took forever. I trained my villagers before I went to sleep to push the statue up the hill. In the morning the statue was restored.

Anyway, if VV2 works the same as VV3, and I'm pretty sure it does then the mechanics are the same.

I know it sounds weird but the game wll continue to run whether your computer is on or off in "real" time. If you don't want the game to advance while you're away from the computer then you have to go to the options menu and "pause" the game. While the game is paused, nothing will happen.

You can also set your options to run in slow, normal or fast (I believe those are the choices) I chose fast since I was writing a walkthrough and I had to get things moving.

Keep in mind that if you leave your village running while you sleep that you have to make sure that people are trained to keep building and farming while you're away. If they don't have any food. You'll see some little skeletons and tombstones in the graveyard when you wake up...not a good thing.

As I stated I probably would have never touched this game if it wasn't because I was asked to write a walkthrough for it. I always thought these games were complicated and it is to a degree. Once you understand the mechanics you'll be hooked. That said, all games are not for everybody but if you give it a real chance you just might be surprised.

I haven't played the first 2 but I probably will at this point because I like this one so much. The only problem is finding the time to play..

I hope this info was useful to you.

Okay, so that's why when I went to finish my last 20 minutes of the demo for VV2 I found dead people everywhere, lmao. Well, I think I'll start with 2 because after playing all 3 demo's I got hooked. Although for some reason VV1 did not grab me at all, it just didn't seem like there was quite enough to it.

Need to go into options. There you can change the speed of the game.

The game runs in real time even after you shut your computer down. If you don't want it to run you have to go to the options menu and pause the game before you shut off your computer. All 3 games work the same way. Fish Tycoon and Plant Tycoon also do the same thing. They are all very good games. wave

Well, only if you are Not one of the poor villagers whistle

Actually, because of this thread I did download it and give it a try. It is cute, and I did remember to pause the game before shutting it down.

Then because that was cute I downloaded a Magical Forest one which is also cute. I do not have time for another addiction eek

I started VV2 last night and I'm so addicted now! I played for about an hour or so, got them so they were comfortable with food, healing, research, etc. and enough tech points to upgrade food. Then I put them on 1/2 speed before going to bed. I just checked on my little village and got a message that said something to the fact that my villagers don't have to worry about food anymore. I found out my baby villager was not a baby anymore and one the children was finally an adult. My one building is nearly finished! It's so cool to come back x amount of hours later and see stuff like that! I reccomend you don't pause the game!

My only other Q is once in awhile I get Q's, like so and so found this, what do you want to do... thing is, when I played the demo, I got like 3 of those, I bought the game and have only gotten 1?

Patricia, I paused the game because it might be days til I get back to it, and then I'd be a mass murderer. But actually, I could unpause it during the day and then just pause it when I shut down. Thinking, thinking puppy

Good idea on the pause! I was wondering what I'd do if I knew it'd be a few days before I got back to them, thanks for the idea! You could put them on 1/2 speed during the day.

1/2 speed, that would be good I think. I really haven't ventured into this type of game before. Do these types ever end? Or do you just keep improving and improving?

I think it "ends" after you get all 16 puzzles done but possibly your tribe can continue if you want? I'm not really sure, it's my first foray into them too, I'm sure another boomer will be along to tell us!

Once you complete all the puzzles you can continue playing. It takes a long time to get all the highest techs and find all the collectables. You can have a population of 100 people. Hubby and I both really enjoy all the VV games. Plant Tycoon is really good and addictive too. wave

Thanks Connie, that helps me understand everything a bit more! I'm having a blast with it!

I forgot, how often do they ask you questions such as "so in so found a hole, check it out or leave it alone?". I've only gotten one so far, they are fun, I wish they'd give me more.

If I remember what I read at the developer's site (LDW) correctly, the game doesn't really end. You can keep your tribe going for years. Some players can have tribes with about 90 people at one time. Other people have all the tribes for each game going on right now.

Go to the Last Day of Work-VV3 Forums and you'll be able to read lots of interesting information about all 3 games. There's some funny stuff that players have written there along with some very useful information that will help you with the game.

EDIT:Patricia, those questions come up randomly. Sometimes you get a lot of them and at other times it takes a while for one to show up.

Tried to access that site but get errors all over their page?

LOL I didn't know they could go off and make babies by themselves!

I was watching them and all of sudden the only adult female and the guy she came to the island with (VV2) run off into a hut and come out with a baby, they did this twice now! I thought if you wanted babies you HAD to put them together, lmao. I was cracking up.

at first you do have to get them together to get the baby, but after you've taught one to have a baby or if you have their job checked on parenting they will continue to have babies on their own as long as the population isn't maxed out or they are to old. I really like these games, the villiagers are so cute.

Hmm, so if I uncheck parenting they'll stop that? I'm getting way too many mouths to feed at the moment!

I finally got the site to work over there and registered, they've already been very helpful, thanks!
