Mome, it's been awhile since I played. If no one has an answer, I'll load it up when I get home from work to see if I can't jar my memory. Ana

Is this the circular jigsaw? If so, match from the inside out. So the middle piece is unmoveable but turn the one right next to it a little at a time until it locks in place. If I recall correctly, you need to release the mouse button each time to see if it locks in that position.

Hi Mome, You can turn the pieces to fit. Trying to recall if this can be done by left or right-clicking... brain's not working at the moment. But they can definitely be turned.

The pieces around the edge that you have placed are evidently not in the correct position. If you turn them, you can change the positions till all the pieces fit together. Nevermind, I see you just got it.

Yes, unfortunately there is a timer and BF has stated they will not be patching to eliminate. Ana

The timer is not really a problem. Each level up gives you an extra five minutes, and as you learn how the different puzzles work they will tend to take less time next time. I am usually hopeless on timed sequences, but even the first time playing I only needed to repeat 2 or 3 levels. When you run out of time on a level, you start that level again, not right back at the beginning. It's a fun game.
