Thanks Ana

So Encore has struck up some kind of exclusive deals, interesting. This is good to know for future releases. I forgot to look for Sinking Island today at Walmart, maybe there is also some extras with that game as its also released by Encore. Even though Dave shipped mine the other day it would be good to know.

Plus yours came in a box with paper sleeve...hmmm also interesting as the exclusive came in a duo DVD style case with large manual, inserts and cardboard slipcover...this is interesting and no advertising of the difference....hmmmmmm

Different North American releases for the same game, isn't this unusual?

What??? All that singing and dancing and you only comment on the box? lol I'm heading back down to Mixed Bags, they appreciate a good song and dance routine. grin

Back on topic before I have to go back to Mod class 101, I love DVD cases vs. a box. I wish I would have gotten mine at Walmart even though I have the original two games here.

GreyFuss -- it's not unusual for publishers to agree to do something slightly different for a large retailer like Walmart -- though including two extra games IS unusual.

Hi Becky Wow

I certainly knew that for other products but I can't remember any exclusives for PC adventure games that was so different in packaging and the games inside but then I can't remember a lot of things. I like the idea and maybe this is a sign of things to come, although it might be nice to know about the extras before hand.

I do find it strange that you have an exclusive and nobody knows about it. I wonder how that negotiation went? Maybe the higher ups at Walmart play adventure games and asked Encore to include the first 2 games and they would buy x amount of games.

Hi GreyFuss -- I don't know anything about the negotiations, unfortunately. smile The partnership between Microids and Encore is new -- it'll be interesting to see what else develops from it.

If anyone with this new 3-game-bundle DVD Dracula version has tried installing Dracula Resurrection and Dracula Last Sanctuary, I would be really interested to know if these two games now run with hyperthreaded/dual core processors without problems. With my older Dracula Resurrection version, the game locks up on my Windows XP dual core processor. It would be nice if they have tweaked this new bundle so that the two older games don't choke on dual core/hyperthreaded processors.

Marian, this was my exact same worry with installation on newer computers. I installed the first two old games just fine on my HP desktop which is XP. Played it, opening and cut scenes were fine, and I could get inventory items and place them and get them out of inventory just fine. I could move around fine, no lagging. No problems at all with installation or running the game. thumbsup

I borrowed my daughter's new Vista laptop with Home Premium, (mine is due back a second time from HP repairs, got damaged in shipping coming back from a repair--sorry it's a long story and it's driving me crazy ! sad)

I installed the first game fine, opening scene had a slight choppiness to it, might need a tweak somewhere. Cut scene had the same slight choppiness, especially when it came to conversations. I could take items, and place them in and out of inventory, no problems and no problem with moving around.

Second game installed fine, the opening and cut scenes were fine. I could move around fine, get inventory, place and take out fine. thumbsup

I also tried playing it without the disc in on the XP and Vista laptop and it ran without the disc on both.

I wish that more of the old games could be re-released like this. It would be fun to play them again on the laptop (when it comes back lol) without tweaking, etc. I got the old versions of the games, and the old 98 computer set up just in case I want to play any of the old games again.

Hope this helps! luck

Hi GreyFuss, thanks for the heads up about Wal Mart, I was surprised our Wal Mart has it, only 3 copies though. I am curious, does the DVD have the same art work that the box has and does the boxed version come with a manuel? hatshepsut

Good question Hatshepsut

Here is a scan of the outer cardboard sleeve Encores Walmart Exclusive DVD style case. I do know this is different than the box shot that Microids shows but I assume that is of the European release. Maybe a Boomer that has a version other than the Walmart one can tell us whether this looks like theirs.

Micoids Box

I think I favor the Microids cover a bit better.

Thank you very much, koalanut; your information was very helpful. smile

I just picked up the WalMart version on eBay from someone who is actually a member of GameBoomers. laugh wave

If for some reason the new versions don't cooperate on my dual core XP, no biggie. I was going to buy Dracula 3 anyway!

You are quite welcome Marion. I am crossing my fingers that it will work for you with no problems. luck

Very cool to "meet" a fellow Gameboomer outside of here. I had it happen at BFG games online in a chat.
