It's been a long time since I've played this, but it may be hard for someone to answer you, because all the pieces you need to pick up are random. Meaning they are not in the same place all the time. Sorry I couldn't help.

Hi, anderbauche!
Have you solved all of the fortune teller riddles yet? I think one of them refers to the missing page 17 and, you're correct, it is inside the fuse box. After you've read about page 17 in the fortune teller riddles, you should be able to open the fuse box.
The pots and lids are scattered randomly throughout the museum, and their locations change from game to game. You mentioned in your original post that you found a walkthru. Does it contain the locations where the pots and lids may be? If so, unfortunately, you'll have to check them all for that elusive crystal lid. Once you have that, try the guillotine puzzle again.

Hi, anderbauche!
The pots and lids are scattered randomly throughout the museum at the beginning of each game, and they will not move before you locate them. However, if you complete your vessel and fail to capture the respective Ixupi, your pot and lid will be rehidden (probably in different locations) and you'll have to find them all over again. Are you sure your elusive lid isn't already in your inventory? If not, all I can suggest is that you recheck the 24 locations again because it's hidden in one of them.
Did you answer all of the fortune teller's riddles, because the fuse box won't open until you've read the reference to page 17 and you can't solve the guillotine puzzle until the riddle tells you to. Once you've solved that puzzle, the trap door in the Breathing Room will open and you'll get your final pot or lid.
Good luck!
Susan

Hi, anderbauche!
I wouldn't start all over again because you're too close to the end.
I believe there are 24 possible hiding places for 20 pots and lids, so 4 of them will always be empty. In your particular game, the eagle's nest was left empty but, since the placement is random, if you decide to play again, you may find a pot or lid there.
Yes, you are only allowed to carry 1 pot or lid in your inventory, so if you are already carrying the pot for the crystal Ixupi, you won't have room for the lid when you find it. Why don't you hide it in a spot close to the main lobby and search again for the top. Did you hang the man because there is a pot or lid underneath the gallows? Did you solve the alchemy puzzle, because there should be a pot or lid there as well? Did you find the Egyptian Hieroglyphs book with the missing page 17 at the beginning of the game? Check your "Flashback" file just to make sure because you probably won't be able to open the fuse box to retrieve the missing page until you have read the book and realize that it's missing.
Good luck!
Susan

Hi Susan When I find the top, if I have the pot with me, they will combine right away. I did the hangman, the alchemy machine and I have all of the flashbacks. You said there are 24 hiding places, not counting the three for Merrick, Beth and the Professor? - I believe that is what I have. Here is the list of places I have - If anyone knows of any others, please let me know. SPOILER Main Floor: statue on top of one bookcase, Library Two of the cabinets, in the Library open, though I never found a pot or lid in either cabinet below drawer puzzle, Workshop behind curtain, Theatre desk drawer, Office on shelves left of entrance, Amazing Plants Room panel next to Stone Fountain, Main Entry Hall (This is where the last one is and doesn’t open, until you go down the slide, in the breathing room) middle bird, inside human skull, in the Bird Masks Eagles nest in Strange Beasts Room 2nd Floor: pot and lid with Merrick's ghost, Fortune Teller Room animal sarcophogus drawer, Funeral Rites in coffin between obelisks, across from Sphinx carved coffin, Myths and Legends under red cloth, Janitor’s closet toilet, in Janitor’s closet inside bull, Gods and Killing Items behind curtain in the Spider Music Box 3rd Floor: spaceship, Planetarium at bottom of wooden structure, Gallows in front of 6 skull dial, Puzzle Room inside alchemy machine, Storage Room 4th Floor: pot and lid with Beth's ghost, Clock Tower inside the clock mechanism Basement: pot and lid with professor W's ghost, Underground Lake top of arch past oil pool, Suberranean World raised object, with the blue prints, in Mysteries of the Deep ------------- That should be Subterranean World - having trouble with the t on this keyboard. anderbauche

auderbauche I am sending you a private e-mail with an attached zip file that includes six saves from a Shivers game that I completed in 1999. A couple of the saves are near the endgame sequence so you can at least complete the game on your machine and see how it ends. One of the files in the zip archive, resource.win, contains the game configuration settings that were unique to my 1999 computer hardware, so you will want to discard it and NOT overwrite the resource.win file that's on your current machine. Also, I would suggest that you save your current game save files to a safe place so you can recover them in case the file set from me doesn't work. Good Luck !!
Edit: Don't see an e-mail address in auderbauche's profile, therefore unable to send file per above. Is there an alternate way to send this zip archive to auderbauche thru a GB channel?

Hi, anderbauche!
I must have had a "duh" moment because, of course, the pot and lid will automatically combine when you match them up.
In case Pete's saves don't work for you, did you look inside the masks in the witch doctor's hut in the Shamen Room because I found one there and I don't see that location on your list?

Thanx to all - Haven't been able to open Pete's saves, but thanx for the effort; MaG too. I went into the Shamen's hut and there is an empty shelf on the right, where I could put the piece I have, so that must be another location, but sadly, my top was not there. I checked all the other places once again with no luck. I finally got disgusted and went to where the crystal Ixupi hides and clicked on it, with just my bottom piece; he came out, but I didn't loose any life essence, so I did it again, this time he left, instead of going back into his hiding place; I still didn't loose any essence. I think something has frozen up or I have a glitch. I think I'll start another game and see if I can find all the pieces - I can maneuver this place in my sleep, shouldn't take too long. Hi, anderbauche!
Before you start over again, did you check every single cupboard in the Library because, in addition to the spot at the top of the ladder, there is one other possible hiding place there? Also, are you sure you looked right inside the eagle's nest because I remember having a problem getting the correct angle?
