Saw this post and thought of getting Diamonds in the Rough (the rest are first person view games, not good for me but good for others) but then find Diamonds in the Rough is wierd! - The subtitles are clumsily placed at the centre of the screen. Why don't the developers placed the subtitles at the bottom of the screen. The bottom of the screen is like industry standard practice. Games, movies all had subtitles at the bottom. - Then the inventory bar is at the top of the screen. It's like seeing the windows menu bar at bottom or windows task bar at top! Like the subtitles, the inventory bar should be at the bottom. It makes sense as the space at bottom is used for subtitles and should be used for inventory. - Lastly, the graphics seems amateurish. People here complain about the Abbey being a cartoon. At least, it's professionally done cartoon. The graphics for Diamonds in the Rough seems inadequate. I have to skip Diamonds in the Rough. These 3 factors made me decide not to buy Diamonds in the Rough.

Just finished this game an hour ago. I rather enjoyed it, wasn't depressed by the ending, wasn't bothered by the positioning of the subtitles, wasn't bothered by the graphics. Completely agree with chrissie. Congrats, alkis on a rather unusual storyline. More of the same please. ___________________ Currently: just started Drac 3

Twenty, What is your reason for this post? You haven't played the game and don't intend to buy it. You mention the bad (your opinion) but you'll never know the good by not playing it. You say things "should" be done a certain way. Game developers, can do what they want with their game. BTW I haven't played the game. There have been games that I won't consider playing and won't post the negatives of a game I haven't played. Would you want to read a movie review by someone who never saw the movie, a game review by someone who never played the game?

Chrissie, Oh, I didn't know Diamonds in the Rough is an independently produced game. That explains the amateurish look of the game. Alkis, Glad you took this professionally, have no intention to offend you. In fact, since this is an indie effort, I respect you for your efforts. I hope you aspire to improve, at least the graphics though. TLC, This is a feedback not a review. It is not my intention to state the negatives of the game. Just saying how the game was. By the way, if these type of comments are not welcomed, maybe there should be a stickie in this folder saying "Do not post this...etc". Be happy not to post then. Anyway, gamers who don't like the inadequate graphics, subtitles at centre etc. will appreciate this post. If I had posted Murder at the Abbey is a cartoon and said I don't like the game because it is a cartoon, the gamer at this post will appreciate the feedback. You may then say about the cartoon comment, "What is the purpose of this post..." It is feedback to the developers and information to gamers. Hope this is alright.

No worries twenty, everyone has the right to voice an opinion whether they end up buying a game or not.

Yeah, it kind of struck a nerve with me too, but I left it at that. Personally, I liked everything about Diamonds in the Rough and it didn't seem at all "amateurish" to me, but rather a game made with more thought for a good game that a true adventure gamer would enjoy than most games made with technological glitz! It is true that it is "old style" but that is a choice. Some gamers and I'm one of them like this type of choice, obviously it isn't one you care for and that is your choice!
To love is to be happy with!

...... Alkis, Glad you took this professionally, have no intention to offend you. In fact, since this is an indie effort, I respect you for your efforts. I hope you aspire to improve, at least the graphics though. Hi twenty, Indie games have to be supported in order for the developers to improve e.g. graphics - that means buying them!!! If you don't like the look of a game & don't want to buy it then fair enough. But it's a pity to 'judge the book by it's cover'. TLC, This is a feedback not a review. It is not my intention to state the negatives of the game. Just saying how the game was....
With all due respect twenty, feedback to developers & information to gamers based on, I would guess, a few screenshots is meaningless from someone who has not played the game, especially when there is plenty of constructive feedback & info to be found from people who have! Your comments would have been respected more if you had least tried the demo (you can download this via the Atropos link in Alkis' post above). Okay, you're obviously not going to like the graphics but at least you can see how the positioning of the inventory bar & subtitles works within the context of the game & not just how it seems on a screenshot!

First the juicy news! It won't be long before we announce the title of the new game we are working on, as well as the first public information. Darleen, yes, that's me. It's my mistake. I thought Alkis is developing a second game after Diamonds in the Rough. Looks like that post is an old post that got booted up and I mistook it for a new announcement. Since Alkis meant Diamonds in the Rough then I'm not looking forward to the game as I don't like the GUI in the game. But if it is a second game Alkis is developing, then I'll look forward to see his new game. If the quality remains the same, then I'm not likely going to buy/play it. (It's only a game, I got better things to do )

even tho my english not the best,i dont understand -confused Athens, August 25, 2008 - It won't be long before Atropos Studios announces the title of the new game we are working on, as well as the first public information. What we can tell you at the moment is that it will be a cartoon 3rd person point & click adventure game with a parodic theme. seems to me perfet clear.work started just a few weeks behind on absolte new game complete opposite style of ditr. editd- added from twenty I'm looking forward to see your new game, it's good that it's 3rd person view and point and click. By the way, for DITR to make it to the Top 5 list for US, UK and Europe, competing with giants like B.Sokal, Microids etc is impressive. Congratulations!

twenty's 1st post yesterday at JA By the way, I have no idea how this list is calculated, whether it's daily, weekly, monthly sales or whatever, but nevertheless it's always nice to see that your game made it to a "Top Sellers" list:
I'm looking forward to see your new game, it's good that it's 3rd person view and point and click.
By the way, for DITR to make it to the Top 5 list for US, UK and Europe, competing with giants like B.Sokal, Microids etc is impressive. Congratulations! Hi, just to clarify - this is twenty's 1st post on JA - as you can see he/she does not give any reference to liking DITR & merely extends his/her congratulations to how well the game has done & clearly states that they are looking forward to the next one. A question for you twenty if you're looking!. If you didn't like the look of the first game why are you looking forward to the 2nd one?

Chrissie, FYI, the first paragraph that you credited to twenty is actually a quote from Alkis and never said by twenty. I asked nicely that we end the discussion and since we can't refrain I will close the thread. Also, since the discussion has taken issue with postings found on JA, I suggest if you still wish to continue this, please post on the thread in question at JA. Ana
