You can only get this when the abbot is in the crypt (you visit him and ask him about the crypt), then you can use the window just outside his office to get inside (you have to talk to the brat to help you :P)

Thanks- I looked at the windows to his office from outside, where itd be easier to break in, but I guess Leonardo wanted to make it much harder on himself.
Now off to the bas relief with the parchment.
