Hot off the Press! Here's the news we were all waiting for: Jane Jensen pipes up: At blog.graymatter-game.com, adventure gaming icon Jane Jensen will regularly comment on the development of her upcoming adventure game Gray Matter from now on.
Her first entry is an open letter concerning the current status of the game's development: Jane Jensen explains, that the development has been delayed. She also confirms that the development process of Gray Matter goes on with high quality: "However, the new dev team, Wizarbox, is a very tight, experienced team. They're raising the quality bar on the project in a way that's exciting for me personally", she writes.
Additionally, Jane Jensen will release some new Gray Matter artwork today, taken directly out of the game's development.
Gray Matter will be the first new title by the famous adventure author since the release of Gabriel Knight 3. Staying true to the Jensen-style, the story interweaves gruesome incidences and supernatural events.
Neuro-biologist Dr. David Styles is one of the main characters in the game. Ever since losing his wife in a terrible car accident many years ago, he has become a recluse, leaving his English mansion Dread Hill House only on rare occasions.
One day student and street artist Samantha Everett shows up on his door step unexpectedly, at a time Styles just happens to be looking for a new assistant. Sam gets the job. Originally from America, she has been travelling Europe for the last few years, so she could really use the money. Her first assignment involves finding six volunteers for an experiment planned by Dr. Styles at Oxford University.
The experiment begins harmless enough, but soon strange things start happening. Styles is visited by his beloved, but deceased wife. Now it is up to Sam to solve the mysteries of Dread Hill House.
In Gray Matter, the player takes control of Dr. David Styles as well as Samantha Everett as they are trying to unveil secrets and find the truth.
dtp entertainment will release Gray Matter worldwide in 2009. Be ready to add the blog to your boorkmarks!

New interesting entry on Jane Jensen' blog, explaining her passion for "weird stories" and talking about three of her more "inspiring" books People often want to know where I get my ideas. Why I have chosen, at different times, to write about King Ludwig of Bavaria, the Torah code, the apocalypse and Rennes-le-Chateau. I don’t know where my fascination in ‘weird stuff’ comes from, or why certain subjects hook me. Perhaps a neurologist could pinpoint an overgrown ‘lurid’ receptor on an MRI of my brain. But for whatever reason, I find myself piqued by the strange and the gothic. And if I’m piqued, the subject runs the risk of ending up in a story or two. You can read the whole entry on her BLOG HERE and see another artworks for Grey Matter.

Thanks Carla! I've enjoyed the second and third books she referenced, and am even more looking forward to the game. Ramachandran also has a documentary out on DVD, if someone was interested in the subject and didn't want to read the book.
