I am getting ready to start some new games to get in the mood for Halloween and have three choices. I want to play the scariest one of the three closest to Halloween. The choices are: Dracula Origins, Dracula 3 and Limbo of the Lost. Also, I am playing Lost Crown right now and don't really care for it (too slow moving for my current lack of patience :)) but is that one far scarier than the others I mentioned? Thanks.

aln, these are more like good storyline games about spooky subjects but I would not really consider them spooky or scary.

I would invest in one of The Last Half of Darkness games for a real scary experience.

Yes ..Yes ..Ana is SOOO right !!! yes

I forgot to mention the Last half Of darkness games..
Only because you didn't mention them as one of the three games you are going to play...

But the Last half of darkness "Spirits eye" Is by far the scariest game I ever played...

Out of those three I'd suggest Dracula 3, aln. It's an atmospheric and tense game.

Dracula Origin is my personal favourite, but it isn't scary.

I wouldn't describe any of the games mentioned as scary especially dracula never gave me a chill one time. However in my opinion the best scary game that made me dread going into each room is a older game. Have you played Blackstone Chronicles? Haunted deserted asylum except for scared Ghosts! Oh how I long for another game like this oldie but goodie. sad

aah...Blacsktone Chronicles was scary. I also thought Barrow Hill was also.
aln...I guess we all have our own taste in games. Lost Crown was the best game I've played in a long time. I have Limbo of the Lost on order. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it.

Hi aln smile

Of the three games you ask about, I would say Dracula 3 had the most tense atmosphere - even though it wasn't all out scary.

It did keep that "unsettled" feeling going quite well, I thought thumbsup

Cheers.

I agree Sherryah I think Blackstone Chronicles was the scariest game I have played and I played all the other ones mentioned. It was so scary I actually told hubby to come in by me several times when I was playing in the middle of the night. He just told me that it was just a game and that nothing could get me but it actually made me scared at times. Have fun Trisha

I'm not sure of Limbo of the Lost cause I haven't played it, but I would suggest Origin over Drac 3 cause it's a bit more enjoyable (IMO), but if you have a preferance drac 3 is first person perspective and origin is 3rd person perspective (fixed camera perspective). Both great games though. If you haven't tried it scratches is pretty creepy as well smile

I'll second Ana:The Last Half of Darkness series was really scary.
I would add Dark Fall to the list, that was beautifully creepy!

Oh gosh SD, I loved Sanitarium. I played Blacksont Chroncles when it first came out. Does it play on XP?

Blackstone Chronicles plays perfectly on my XP without any tweaking, but I've read of folks who've had problems getting it to run with XP.

I agree, it's a great game with lots of heart-thumping moments. scared

I thought the Delaware St. John games were actually scarier than Dracula: Origin. Dracula: Origin is more creepy than terrifying, if that makes sense.

For a truly horrifying game, you might want to try Penumbra: Black Plague.

Hey Bets: Were you asking about Sanitarium or Blackstone Chronicles on XP? I played Sanitarium on XP with no problems. Ooooooh that creepy pumpkin patch! Perfect for Halloween time.

Thanks everyone! I think the word I was actually looking for wasn't really "scary" but more "spooky" or atmospheric for Haloween (in my weird sense of it :)). I don't really get "scared" with games though I did find Scratches a bit creepy. Loath Nader and Dark Fall and Barrow Hill didn't even give me a chill but I liked the mood of the Delaware games and games like Nancy Drew Haunted Mansion. I guess atmospheric is more what I was thinking of and Limbo and Dracula 3 seem to both satisfy that (just installed and watched the opening scenes of both.) Will probably just play a bit of both and see what I think. Sounds like some good "scary" game suggestions for next year, too, with the others.
Have a great Halloween full of spooky games and fun! smile

Dear All,

Regarding Halloween games - might I humbly suggest our own dear 'Rhiannon' - Wales, ghosts, legends, October, hauntings. I know it's a commercial, but hey, a chap has to eat / buy a new DAW to write the music for the next game, etc. :-)

Best regards

If you meant Sanitarium on Vista, then yes.
I played it without any trouble. Had 1 or 2 freezes, but if you save often, then it's no big deal. smile
