I think I've done everthing in the museum that I'm supposed to. I even checked the walkthrough. But I can't get the guard to appear in the director's office so that I can get the ladder. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

If he doesn't show up, you missed clicking, looking close, identifying one or more active itesm. This part is very picky.
Be sure also to check if they are entered in documents. If they are not - it didn't take and the game did not recognize it.

Be sure to check the 2 footprints on the stairs, might need to right click. Also there are 2 footprints in the room with the glass roof.

I went over everything in the museum very carefully. The problem seems to be that the results are not being posted in the "reports." How can I get past this???

gamil, only by clicking on the footprints etc. while you're using the magnifying lens, will Holmes comment, and the results be posted in your Reports section.
