I'm having problems running this game. I have played it before with no trouble at all, so I don't understand it.

It installs just fine, but when I start the game going to the first book, it chrashes. How can it be? and what do I do?

I'm playing on windows xp and have all the nescessary requirements.

While waiting, see if you can contact Legacy Games here.

Have you tried reinstalling it?
It might be a driver problem -- if you've changed any of your drivers since last time you played it.
Do you have any program running in the background that could be interfering with it?

I haven't changed drivers, but I did have a virus-scan running while installing it. I'll try again.

+++++++++++++++++

Nope, it didn't work.

Did you get the game from Big Fish or somewhere else?

I bought the game on a cd-rom from England.

-----------------

I suddenly remembered I bought a new graphic card. It is bigger than the one I used before, but I am not having trouble playing other games than this.
It's a GE-force 8600. If that's the problem, how can I solve it?

Try reducing video acceleration for the card. If you don't know how, here are instructions for XP:

Right Click the desktop where there is no shortcut --> Properties--> Settings tab--> Advanced button--> Troubleshoot--> adjust the slidebar for hardware acceleration, Save the settings.

You may have to turn it down one or two notches, but probably not all the way. Experiment to see what's best.

You may have to increase the acceleration back to full for other games you're playing. But some games will crash if acceleration is set too high.

The only other thing I can think of is to try different drivers.

Thanks so much for your help. I think, I will just count it up as a loss.

I'm sorry to hear that it still isn't working.
Perhaps you could try it again after Nvidia's next driver update.

Interesting, I just e-mailed BFG support last week about the same exact problem.

I've played this game through once before, went to play it last week, and it "crashed". It actually just did not start after selecting the first book and then selecting "start case". It closed and went back to the game manager desktop, and stated "Thank you for playing The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes" as if my time ran out on the demo.

I've gone through all of the typical trouble shooting, and my computer has no problems. I installed it on my brand new laptop, and the same thing happens. I'm thinking it has something to do with the demo time limit script being active. Kind of weird since I did buy the game.

They have not figured it out yet, but I will post here if they come up with a solution.
