I have just completed this and found it very enjoyable. I would never have made it through without Mag's walkthrough, half the time, I ran around, not knowing what I was looking for, and the other half trying to remember where I had seen the object I DID know I was looking for! I like to pick stuff up on the way and then figure out when I need it, rather than items only being available after other actions have been taken. Very atmospheric, great scenery and totally glitch free. I think a close cousin to Barrow Hill. Thumbs up!

Thanks cris, I've played the demo and still haven't made up my mind about this one. It's kind of pricey. At 30 bucks I want to be somewhat sure it's going to be something I'll enjoy. The only thing that bugged me about the demo is how the screen faded from scene to scene. Minor, I know, but it messed with my eyes for some reason. Maybe something I wouldn't notice after awhile.

I do like the idea of going back to get items as you need them. Feels more like how you would work things out in real life.

I child-proofed my home... but they're still getting in!

The only fadings, as I recall, was at the end of each chapter. There were only 3 I think. As you can tell I barely noticed.

I started this game yesterday and I am loving it so far! Its exactly what I like in a game - first person, isolation, (haven't run across any NPC yet!) , and spookiness! Its a little annoying to not be able to pick up things until they are needed, but its easy to recall where they are and hike back to get them. It's very pretty too!

Non Player Character - any character other than the one you are playing in the game. smile

NPC = Non Player Character - in other words, other characters that you meet in the game.

I could tell you if you will encounter any NPCs (cheers for filling the ignorance gap mods)but then you would have to kill me!

I've been playing this for a few hours now, completed some simple tasks, explored & have now got to the point where there doesn't seem to be any direction as to what to do next or maybe I'm missing something! So far, to be honest, the game is not flowing for me & I'm finding it hard to get into - I don't like to have refer to a walkthrough to see what I have to do next! Does it get better? smile

There are a couple of chapters where the item list might be a little hard to find and without that you would wonder what to do next. The clues and story are in the papers, books, and things you find. You don't need a walkthrough if you read everything. Once you have the story down you can apply logic to every puzzle. I am also one that likes to pick up everything I find and figure out what to do with it later but after I got used to this system I liked it just as well if not better. I enjoyed this game a lot and found it a lot of fun to play.

Thanks Jalex, I'm onto Chapter 3, I have enjoyed playing some of it unaided but as far as logic goes I seem to be missing a lot (probably a few brain cells lol).

I'm intrigued by the storyline but the game just doesn't gel for me! There does seem to be a lot of trial & error as to when you can pick things up & how you proceed, & when you get a list of things to find you don't seem to be able to do it any order.

I'm finding this game so frustrating & wish I was enjoying playing it a lot more than I am - it's very pleasing to look at as it is so beautifully done & you can see a lot of thought has gone in by the developers. The 'thought' is escaping me & all I want to do now is finish it to see how the story ends. As a game it's just not working for me! smile

I just picked this game up yesterday, am looking forward to playing it! One question, how would you rate the spookiness? Is it like Barrow Hill, more in the atmosphere and feeling, or do things jump out at you?

I found the game as atmospheric if not more so than Barrow Hill but not quite so spooky. Generally things don't jump out at you but I found myself startled a few times but there only one or two parts which made me go scared!

I have to agree with Chrissie, I found this game quite frustrating a lot of the time as I had no idea what to do next. Having said that I still enjoyed it but I seemed to spend as much time on Universal Hints as I did playing the game.

The graphics are good, the sound effects make you feel you are really there and the story is riviting. I was quite happy with going back to pick up what I needed.

I do hope this team make another game, maybe in Karen Burton we have another Roberta Williams in the making? Good luck to them and thank you for the game.

Has any one seen any little gray cells around as I think I've lost some? Reward for finder.

Overall i liked the game...good story, didn't crash, good sound, graphics..had some good atmosphere...but like some of you i floundered a bit...lots of time just stumbled blindly...got better in later part of game but, still, would not have been able to get through it without the walkthrough. I do hope, though, there is another in the works ...just maybe it will hang together better.

it took me until the end of chapter three to realize "ohhhhhhhh, THAT'S what I'm supposed to be doing! " The game is lovely and isolated etc, but I agree, it's hard to figure out just what you are supposed to be looking for!

It's one game that when I got to the end of that I thought was wonderful in a lot of ways & well worth re-playing. When I get round to it I know I'll pick up on many things that I missed the first time round, especially in the first part of the game, & know that I will enjoy the experience so much more. smile

I am on the last chapter and loving it! I love being able to go back and pick up stuff, and the tasks make sense. The effects are really good and I love how the story is revealed bit by bit.

Edited: I finished this morning! Totally loved it, the ending was so cool!

I totally cheered when the Rhiannons' spirits were released, and loved Llywd's brief appearance on the TV

I hope they make some more games, I would definetly buy them!

Am playing it now and loving every minute. For me it's up there with Barrow Hill, Dark Fall and better than Scratches. (My top games)
I, too, was a bit put off by the quick darkening of the screen every time the mouse was clicked and the perspective changed. I'd describe it as "a quick flash of dark". I've got used to it but wonder if it may be harmful to the eyes.
Living in Wales, the Tales of the Mabinogian are familiar to me and as I live in a rural environment with no immediate neighbours I can identify with the whole atmosphere of the game.
Let's have more games of this quality.

Its been a while since I played this but I think you can change that in the options to smooth transitions or something like that.
