Hi Folks. My first post. Hope someone can help me. I am on top of the grand tower, and have been enjoying this staggering view for about 2 weeks now. I cannot get the gates open. I am not sure if I am operating the telescopes properly. Or the filters. I hear a small sound when I pass through some of the gates. Is this part of the puzzle? I have saved at each floor in the elevator, and start the puzzle each time from the 6th floor save. I am using a walker by MaGtRo. I like his best, but he's a little vague on the telescopes. Or, as usual, I'm missing something...

TLC,

Thank you for a nice welcome.
And thank you for gender on MaG. I have followed a LOT of her walkers, and it puts a new slant on many things she said in them. Wow.

wave oldgamer.

welcome Robar,

Let's review -
The premise is to have all the gates have the blue color (when the filters are placed over the lens) at the outer perimeter (not right or left) but outside away from the tower.

To do so, you need to check ALL the telescopes and switch some that have incorrect gates on the outside.

Each telescope is for one gate.
When you click the filters on a telescope, it automatically places the filters in the filter holders at either side.
Click both filters in the holder so that they are both covering the lens.
The top red button removes the filters and the bottom button turns the gate.
So look through the lens with both filters on and see if the blue gate is on the outside. Turn the gate if it is wrong.
There is a place that has 2 telescopes - so don't miss one of them. luck

Once you think you adjusted all of them - walk the path with the gates until the end.

What a nice reply. Thank you.
The filters seem to be my problem.
I can't put both on at the same time.
From your hint, I gotta go try this.
Be back soon...

Hi. Ran the puzzle again. No go.
Methinks perhaps I errored. After all, there are 9 gates.
I will run it a few more times with your directions.
I'm still a little loose on the filter biz.
Are the gates you see outside the telescope accurate?

MaGtRo
Are you the person who wrote maybe a dozen walkers I have used ?
Cleopatra, Outcry, Schizm I, Beyond Atlantis II, and a lot more.
If you are, I loved 'em all. Thank you.
I'm so impressed. Don't stop doing this, you are so good at it.
Thanks for the help
I'll run it a few more times, before whinning for more help.

Cheers

Robar, when you look thru the telescope the "red" gate must be on the outside to have them all correct.
When you are looking thru both filters the colors you are looking at are actually reversed so rotate all the "blue colored gates" to the outer side while you have both filters over the telescope.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Thanks, Gerry

And thank you MaG for the link. Whoa, lot of info.
I'm heading for the Tower now, and I'm bringing a sleeping bag.
One question. When the gates are set correctly, can you see or hear the portal opening from the last platform, or does it open when you approach it?

What's a BAAG Specialist?

This might take awhile, but methinks I am on to something...
Thanks folks.

Hi Robar. If you can shed some light on this puzzle I would appreciate any input that you might have. Even the smallest clue would be helpful. I've tried this puzzle several times and am now taking a break. We are painting and replacing flooring in our home so it will be a few days before I check back with hopes of finding your input to this puzzle. I am so ready to finish this game.

Take care,
Terri smile

Hi MaG
Just a note to let you know that the BAAG page was funny.
Looks like I'm a level 4. Myst did this to me, you know.
Why, I used to be a respectable FP shooter. In a fit of boredom, I played a Myst game.
Now I'm stuck on top of a tower in a fabulous landscape.
Been here here about 40 days... Starting to feel a bit stupid over this.
This puzzle has stopped me longer than the tablets in Myst 5.
You have provided me with a huge amount of info on this puzzle.
But, seems I'm still missing SOMETHING !
Thank you so much for all the help.

I have some questions about the puzzle, after 50 or so romps up the ramp.
Two are about an anomaly I noticed.
One is about a possible visual clue, sans filters.
The rest concern the operation of the telescopes.

Love to chat if you might be interested/aware of any of these things.
Especially with Oldgammer.

Goin' back up the tower for awhile now...
Back soon - R

Hi Teeri824
Sorry, I haven't got past it either.
I'm seeing a way to wade through this puzzle by just clicking a certain number of rotations for each gate, from default (6th elevator start), not using the filters at all.

Have you ever started up the ramp only to find one of the gates showing it's colours ?

Cheers - R

-----
Sorry MaG, I was a little premature in yellin' about that.
But there certainly is a way to run this puzzle by clicks if the default load at elevator 6 is always the same. Without the filters. No ?

lol Syd who also writes our Christmas poem originated the BAAG concept and wrote that.

I really don't know or can't remember about the elevators. I am waiting for the game pack I ordered so that I can replay and revise the walkthrough when I have time. I have a saved game here if you want to go through that route.

Hi Robar:

I'm new at Gameboomers.

I have followed your discussion about the telescope puzzel at the Grand Tower in Mysterious Journey II (Schizm II). I think that I have the answer to your problem with this telescope puzzle. Because I was not a member I could not respons here. So....I thought.....Let's be a member than.

You mentioned earlier on in this topic that you can not put both lensses in to the telescopes. I'm sorry, but if this is the case than you can not solve this telescope puzzel.
Schizm II has an very anoying grafic bug. This bug makes that with some videocards you'll not be able to put both lensses into a telescope. Therefore you will not be able to get all of the gates right and the door to the next level will never be open.

At the time that Schizm II was released a lot of players had problems, due to this bug. Some thought that it was a problem with some Nvidea Cards because most players with an ATI READEON card didn't had this problem.

The only thing left for you, if you want to finish the game, is to use a Save Game from somebody who has got through to the next level.

Hope this is helpfull for you
Best regards

Robar. I would think that you have to use the filters but just clicking a certain number of times sounds good to me. When you click on the right and left don't the filters show the colors of red and blue , then if you hit the bottom button they switch places?

Oops, I don't believe I have noticed the colors when I went through the gates. Now I'm going to have to double check. Part of the time I close my eyes going up the ramp because it makes me a little nauseous if I don't.

Terri
