Gremlin discovers that life as a blonde isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Pirates, voodoo, a curse, and a forgotten island -- can a blonde innocent with a sunny disposition survive these challenges?

Thanks Becky, & thanks Gremlin for an interesting & informative review. I'm looking forward to playing the game when it turns up but not so much to trekking back & forth & the mini-puzzles! - it seems a shame that an option to zip from place to place wasn't included. smile

Chrissie, you'll enjoy the game despite of the lack of a map.
And the puzzles can be skipped all together smile

I'll buy it for the screenshots alone, looks like a great place to wander around in, something I do a lot of in every game, so what else is new? Evidently my minutes aren't as valuable as gremlin's so I don't mind taking my time and enjoying the walking around, and I never run as I absolutely hate double-clicking, one of my many idiosyncracies.
In my email this ayem Adventure Gamers gave it 4 out of 5, which is plenty good enough for me.

Good game, I loved it. Although by it's own admission it rips off Monkey Island shamelessly.

RAL, Demos would be accessed on this page here. I do not see a demo listed next to So Blonde, but there are two trailers.

I absolutely loved this game. As I stated in another post it was one the best games I've played in a long time. I agree with sierramindy....you go from place to place in almost every game I played, so what's new. This game has so much going on and so much to see at all the locations that going back and forth is exactly what you will need to not miss anything. I found so many different things everytime I went back to an area that I didn't see when I was there previously so I didn't mind it all. To each his/her own I guess. That's really what it's all about. My opinion was that this IS a GREAT game. I think the C was quite disappointing, but obviously it was not the game Gremlin was looking for. And you know what....that's okay. It's not for everyone. But it really would be a shame for those of you who really did want to play it not to play it because of Gremlin's review as it is only one person's idea of what they thought and quite frankly, it might not be yours. Anyway...I've said my piece and now I will leave it at that. Thank you Gremlin for an interesting review. Although I may not agree totally with it....I respect your opinion as I have read alot of your reviews and liked them immensely. Again, Thanks.

You're absolutely right, Sly One. Reviews are opinion pieces about the reviewer's experience of a game. Inevitably they come with the reviewer's gaming baggage.

I too respect your right to disagree with me. Even if you are wrong wink

Thanks for the nice comments too.

Thank you for the review, gremlin. Since I had read quite a few positive comments on the game, I was surprised at how much I was not enjoying this game. I definitely agree with your review. It was really hard for me to get engaged in the story, in part because of the character and in part because of the sheer volume of loading screens. I was even given a loading screen when I wanted to quit the game! Anyway, thanks again for the review.

RAL,

If I remember correctly there was a post by Carla back in late September about a demo download for this game. Seeing the number of people who were posting in the hints section about the demo makes it sound like it was in English too. I am not sure why it is not in the section BET was mentioning.
Hopefully you can try it and determine if it is for you or not.

I too was surprised to see the grade given for the game in the review, IMHO if I am going to play an adventure game I do not mind taking time spent watching the things going on around me. I loved the yellow periscope popping up every so often when in the jungle and looking around - those little items scattered around the game really made my daughters and I laugh throughout the game when we played it. Is there not also supposed to be mutilple endings as well? No disrepect to the reviewer Gremlin intended but it seems the review read as someone who just wanted to zip through it. I do agree on many other mentions such as the music - I just turn it off but as I play on a laptop and not the much nicer gaming machine Gremlin has it is much easier to turn off the music coming out of my little speakers for much of everything!

I played all the endings....

Click to reveal..
there are three, though one has two variants, and they all basically end with the same trite comments by Sunny

I noticed lots of the references too, the knights, the periscopes, the numbers, the hatch in the jungle.

Just because I didn't enjoy the game doesn't mean I rushed through it. And just because I got annoyed with the endless tracking back & forth doesn't mean I didn't appreciate the little references (the first couple of times through).

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I didn't. Period.

There are actually 5 different endings (or I suppose 4 if you split hairs)

Click to reveal..
There are four objects you can collect throughout the game. These are obtained from pursuing and completing a number of small side quests within the game plot. Careful playing reveals these, but it isn't necessary to pursue these to finish the game or main plot path - so they can be skipped.

At the end you can choose one of three options as to whom powers go to. If you choose yourself and have these objects then there is an additional choice that will appear. Depending on what you choose - you will get one of the two additional endings

I think 6 endings is more accurate -
Click to reveal..
-Islanders get the power
-Atabey gets the power
-Sunny gets the power, and leaves the curse active
-Sunny gets the power, and sends no one to modern times
-Sunny gets the power, and sends herself to modern times
-Sunny gets the power, and sends One-Eye to modern times

A 7th ending would be if you finish the game without the 4 tokens, then it's "Sunny gets the power, and decides to heal the curse", but I guess THAT would be splitting hairs smile

I'm actually a bit disappointed that the TRUE endings are only reachable if you have 4 items that you know nothing about the need to get. I finished the game at first with only 2 of them, and only after reading some forums I realized how much I missed.

What this game needs is a good MaG-style walkthrough, because the two that exists currently are far from being complete.
