Hi Gemma,

I moved your post from the Castle Malloy thread and created a new topic for you. Mixing two games on one thread can get confusing. smile

Does your game freeze in the same spot each time? I can either move you across to Glitches for tech advice if it is happening randomly, or I can send you a saved game to get you past the scene with the keys.

hi it freezes in the same place every time I think it is because I am doing something wrong am going to try something and if it does not work will get you to send me a saved game I think I have to wait till Joe's mum answers the door before I change to Frak to get him downstairs. Thanks for switching me to Hardy Boys.

As soon as you can regain control of the cursor after their mother goes to answer the door, immediately switch to Frank. Then double-click to descend the stairs, grab the keys, and double-click to return back up the stairs. Hope you manage to get through this part without the game freezing again. Let us know if you do need that saved game after all. :wave12:

thanks rush but cannot get it to work tried what you said in email but still no luck any other suggestions have emailed dreamcatcher and asked them see what they say but they aren't as good as you guys as giving solutions so if you can think of anything else in the meantime please let me know maybe a saved game further on might work but if the key one doesn't then I don't think others will either. Thanks.

It's a shame that you can't get the save to work. frown My instructions were for XP - if you use Vista then the procedure is slightly different, please let us know if that's the case. So strange how Hardy Boys saves work fine for some people but not others. If you hear back from Dreamcatcher, keep us posted. luck

I am using XP and when and if I hear from Dreamcatcher will let you guys know first thanks will keep trying. Maybe if you just send me the saved game and not the picture or one at a time I will try that.

Dreamcatcher and The Adventure Company are closed until Jan. 5/09 will keep you posted.

The two files that I sent you - the data and the jpg - count as one saved game, so you won't be able to use just one and not the other. Make sure that you have renumbered both files and copied both across into your game folder.

Have done that but nothing happens I can get Frank to the topof the stairs and Joe to ring the bell but then when I try to get Frank to get the keys he get's sent back upstairs and that is where my game freezes. Do you think if I take it back to the store and get a new one that that might help but I still think tht it is tough to get Frank down for those keys and back up maybe it is a glich in the game what do you think. I put the files in the save data of the game if I renumer them again maybe I will try that if not can you send me over to your tekky and see if he can help thanks.

MaG mentioned that the patch released for this game might have something to do with saved game compatibility. The saves I sent to you were from an unpatched game - is your game patched? think

don't know what you mean by patched I did download a patch so should I delete it or uninstall the game and reinstall it again and then use your saves again because funny thing is when I renumbered your saves and I loaded into the game the frame where I freeze keeps changing numbers the date remains the same but it is now number five and I renumbered your saves to four weird eh. Will delete the patch and uninstall the whole game and reinstall and start from scratch maybe that will help. Talk soon and thanks.

-----------------------

hi: ok have uninstalled and reinstalled game will try again thanks will let you know what happens.

-----------------------

Hi: reinstalled and played and didn't get as far when it went caput don't know what to do think will take it back to store and see if they will refund (don't think so) but will try.

Gemma,

Have you tried lowering your video-audio acceleration? That might stop the game freezing.

None of my saves have gone into the save data file so do I leavethem with the zerzero or change them to number one. Have managed to get to the keys but cannot get upstairs and when I do it stops the game seems like a alot of people are having trouble with this game. Any help apprciated thanks.

Gemma,

In XP:
Download the 2 files that was sent to you to desktop.
Then open My Computer - C drive - Program files - The Adventure Company\The Hardy Boys - The Hidden Theft\data\SaveData folder.

Inside the SaveData folder check what the last saved game's number.
Then renumber the 2 files sent to you to be the last one:
For example: Save_File24 and Save_Pic24 are the 2 files sent to you. The last number you have in the SaveData folder is 10; then renumber the 2 files sent to: Save_File11 and Save_Pic11.

ok did exactly as you said changed to 11 but nothing do I start a new game or load the last saved game. My load games file in the game has two saved but they do not show up when I go to my computer and save data file they are not there ok will try again will renumber them to 3 and try that thanks.

did not work since I had three saves in my load file changed to number 4 but when Iwent back into load file nothing was there shall I go back and start as a new game but think the funny thing is there are no saves in save data other than the ones that you have sent to what do I change the number to since yours is 0 should it be one. If I ever get past this it will be a miracle.

Gemma,

The #11 is an example only. I don't know what your last number is in your folder. Please check what number is the last in your folder.

Hi: I have no saves in my save/data folder still have your saves in a folder of mine will I put them in as you told me but what do I renumber them to. They are numbered 0 do I just leave them as zero I have saved games in the past but they don't go into the save/data folder they just stay in the load game and when I change the number of your save they dissappear so Ihave to start at the beginning again. hope you understand this thanks.

ok started again and save three games in load game in game. Quit and went to save/data file in my computer and here is what is there. Have not put your saves in yet because took all out and started fresh. Here is what is in there now. On top left going down. Save_File1 File 11KB, Save_File0 216x162 JPEG image, Save_Pic2 216x162 JPEG image, on right hand side of save/data foler going down Save_File0, File, 11KB, Save_File2, File, 11KB, Save File_File2, File, 11KB, Save_Pic1, 216x162, JPEG image. Four on left from top and three from right on top.
Now what do I put in when I put your two saves in and renumber them from 0 Do you have to have both saves would one not be enough but which one am totally confused can get to the keys grab them but cannot get up the stairs no matter how fast I am Mrs. Hardy beats me too it. Thanks.

You have in your folder:

Save_File0 216x162 JPEG image
Save_File0, File, 11KB

Save_File1 File 11KB
Save_Pic1, 216x162, JPEG image

Save_File2, File, 11KB,
Save_Pic2 216x162 JPEG image
Save File_File2, File, 11KB???

At desktop (any place that is not SaveData folder) relabel the one I sent:
Save_File3
Save_Pic3

Then place both of them inside SaveData folder or save/data file where the other saved game files are located.
Close all folders. Play-load as usual.

Good luck.
