You can always direct traffic so that they don't hit the column. This part is really dark, years of accumulated soot is difficult to clean without a stronger cleaner. Raise your brightness or gamma so you can see the tiles on the top of the fireplace that you cleaned. Then remember the tiles at the bottom of the fireplace that you cleaned earlier. That's the clue.

Right now I'm more than ready to direct traffic, methinks! I got the sliding door open and jammed with the shovel, now trying to use a stone on a moving platform when a little arrow-like sign shows up, but no matter where I place it or when, Sylvie just throws the stone down to the bottom of the pit. She keeps trying but at this rate she will run out of stones and everything will collapse or whatever. I feel like collapsing already! Laughing over the remark about directing traffic is keepimg me going. That and I do like this game. But what is the secret in throwing the stone ... or is it something else entirely?

Okay, I saw the mark, but Sylvie was always too slow and the platform was always going down by the time she threw the stone, so I decided she needed more time so I threw the stone just as the platform started down and that did the trick. I really didn't expect it but it jammed and I could hardly believe it. The second one was easy, as you said it would be. Got dressed in the maid's uniform, wrapped up the 4 square thingies and put the package in the mail with the other stuff. In the garden there is a recess with a wall with holes leading to the top and I've filled in the bottom one with a stone from the low wall. Can only carry 4 stones at a time and I've changed them around but can't get any others in the holes. Maybe there is more to do inside? I keep trying to take a candle but I get stopped each time, tried putting the cut flowers in the candle's place but that isn't working. What's with the window and the ropes after moving the ladder nearer? This part I don't get at all, not that I truly understand much of anything else, but I do like plodding along when I can think of something, anything to try. Out of ideas now though, so truly need more help. Everyone welcome!

Hi MaG, Yes,I did talk to the Cardinal until the phone rang, now he is out of the office. The portrait above the fireplace needs dusting, but the duster in inventory doesn't seem to do anything. I used the pen on the package and I seem to recall that Sylvie put her address on it, I looked for stamps but she put the package in a box with other outgoing mail. She said it was such a small package they would never notice it. As for the stones, I guess I will go try them again. I will also try the office and to dust that portrait, maybe I'll have better luck with it now that I know it has some importance. Does it open a secret panel maybe?

If you are carrying too many garden stones and none of them work in the slots, replace one or two on the low wall and pick up a couple others you haven't tried yet. Trial and error until they all fit in their appropriate niche. Work from the lowest niche first, as Sylvie can't reach the top areas otherwise.
Examine the duster in inventory more closely by right-clicking on it - can you get a hand cursor over it in close-up view? Now left-click.

I'm making progress, sort of. I paid more attention to my dusting and got the key, behind the portrait there is a safe which I haven't tried to open as yet since I haven't a clue about the combination. I also found the cap and have filled it with wax from the candle (so the candle WAS useful) but now what to do with the wax I have no idea. Earlier I took a sheet of paper from the top of the tablet on the desk, thinking I should use the pen on it to bring out any writing but that didn't work. Still don't have a clue what's with the window and rope? Hi Rushes, since I found the key, do I still need the duster?

Yes, you need that duster. Do you have the feather in inventory? Combine it with something else, and then you might be able to work on that sheet of paper some more. Sylvie won't take the rope until she knows what she needs it for, and not until the guard outside the door has gone.

When I right-clicked on the duster and used the hand icon I didn't see anything happen so thought it didn't work. Not until you mentioned the feather did I check my inventory and there it was! Surprise. Got soot on it, put it on the sheet, read the combination, opened the safe, read the documents but Sylvie didn't take them. Have all the stones in place, climbed the wall, and now know why I need the rope, but can't cut it yet since I need to get rid of the guard, but how? Think, Sylvie! While Sylvie is thinking, I need a clue.

TLC! Sierra, Now is the time to use the candle and the cap. Check one of the items you can't take and recall that you have something similar.

Hi TLC: Yes, I think (afraid really, don't want it to end) that I am close to the end. I don't think there will be much more to do once I get back to Gozo after I make it over the wall. Hi MaG: I don't think I need the candle since I now have some wax in the cap, just don't know what to do with it. Right now the only items I can't take that I can think of, are those in the safe, and the pen because Sylvie always puts these back willy-nilly. Also can't take the candle, which I thought once I might sneak out through the place where she changed her clothes since that was away from the guard, but he always sees her and makes her put it back. But I can't think of anything similar to any of these. I thought maybe it was something from earlier so I tried to go back through the passage to find it, but the door (held back by the shovel) suddenly slammed shut right in front of me so now it will definitely have to be the wall. Hi Rushes: The very first time I went to the second wall after climbing up and over the first wall, I thought I heard Sylvie say something about seeing a taxi, but I didn't see it myself. Now when I go back she doesn't mention a taxi any more, but she does say she needs a rope. I'll try cutting the rope and then checking on the guard.

I can't find whatever it could be. Nothing seems similar to me, but here's something strange, I think. I went back in that old passageway to where the stones were that were used to jam the platforms and what do you know, Sylvie picked up 2 stones, whatever for I can't imagine. Maybe I should knock out the guard? But that would only take one stone, right? As you can see very plainly, I am at my wit's end!

Hi scootergirl. Did you speak with the sailor guy about everything? The shopkeeper needs you to carry out that favour for him before he will give you the mended scooter key.

Hi Y'all, I finished the game! Hi Rushes, I needed the hint about the safe, because I couldn't see the ring as it was too dark, so all I managed to find were the documents, which fortunately became part of my notes so I was able to check back to see how to line things up at the end. That was terrific! Really great game and that makes 2 in a row from this company. They are certainly getting the adventure game right. Even Sylvie knew what an adventure is as wrote in her Journal she was about to go on one. Hopefully she will go on more in the future. A female Indiana Jones without a whip, gotta love her! Thanks to the hint, I searched inside the safe until I finally came across the ring and I knew exactly what to do with it.

Great that you finished the game, sierramindy. I had a lot of fun with it also, although I found it rather short.

Did you wrap the fish in the newspaper? Have you spoken completely to Inspector Granc outside Sylvie's house?
Maybe check against the walkthrough to see what you might have missed. Keep us posted.
