I had graphics problems with this game (characters blacked out, silouhettes). This is in a quad core system. Well I hung on to the game long enough to find a solution that you all may know about already. You edit the system startup so it reads only one core. Its very simple and it finally worked for me... This almost sounds as if you're disabling the additional cores for all processes on the PC (which is probably not the best approach). There is a free tool (authored by Microsoft) that can permanently modify the game so that it only uses 1 core (without disabling them for other programs). Metzo has a fairly good write-up on it below: Steve's XP Games Corner Read the comments on ImageCFG -

Have you tried playing in compatibility mode? Sometimes that's all I need to do when having similar problems in a game.

Please do not put requests for help about Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (a game from 1996 meant to be played on DOS or Windows 95) in a help thread for Broken Sword 4 (a game from 2006). The solutions would be completely different. If you want to play Shadow of the Templars on a modern computer, I suggest using ScummVM. http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php

You can start a new thread in Glitches by going to the *** main Glitches page *** and clicking on New Topic. New Topic is on the left, just above the list of thread titles.

I had the same problem (dark shadows) on my machine, a Tri-core, and thanks to the wonderful Jenny100, got it temporarily fixed until they get a patch for the game. I hae also contacted the Adventure company, who I had contacted about this issue about the multi-core processors, and gave them the same url that Jenny100 gave to me so that maybe they might be a patch comming soon. John http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t39019.htmlurl for fix.

I have just installed Broken Sword 4 and it runs fine on my XP machine. However, it appears very dark. Could this be due to hyperthreading? Or is it supposed to be dark? I'll try out the imagecfg solution to see if that makes a difference. Edit: Well I tested out this theory and now the game won't run at all. I'll have to undo what I did. I guess I'll have to uninstall and reinstall the game to get rid of the affinity setting.
