Just wondering what you seasoned AG’ers thought about these. I'm not that much of an AG player but was in Gamestop the other day and noticed these 2 games on the shelf. They were both advertised as $19.99 and I figured why not. I went to pay and was told that most AG's were on sale, and this one and Next Life were 10 bucks a piece.

Well, I naturally bought both. grin

Anyways installed both on my comp. First of all, does Next Life ever pick up pace? I know nothing about it but have never seen a game character move so slow! I have no idea what to do either. Not sure if I’ll continue with this one or not. Not so much the gameplay itself, but I can imagine watching your character move at a snails pace though a whole game could become very grating.

The Experiment is another kettle of fish altogether. Although I’ve heard bad things about it, I find it a breath of fresh air in the genre. It seems to require a good amount of logical thinking, rather than cryptic puzzles thrown at you every five min, which to me is a good thing. The gameplay mechanics are totally unique, and even though some of the ideas don’t seem very well implemented, I have to give the devs credit for trying something new. The story at least so far is fascinating, and very deep. Of course I’m fairly early in the game, and my opinion may very well change.

Wondering what you folks here think about these titles seeing as it seems many of you play mostly AG's.

I feel similar about the Experiment, though I still wait for a period in which I'll have more time to play it thoroughly... a lot of reading in it.

I have never played Next Life.

There's definitely definitely definitely no logic to human behaviour.

Here's Nickie's review of Next Life and Becky's review of Exp[eriment.

There are also several threads - you might want to do a search.

If you check in GLITCHES there are several things you can do to help 'speed up' a game that moves too slowly like you describe, one of them being that you should reduce the number of icons on your desktop and put them into folders, a friend suggested this should speed up the computer thereby maybe helping with the game...and keeping your cookies deleted (I use CCleaner free download software) frequently helps too. Go to Glitches and ask for help - Then there are some games, not too many but a couple come to mind I played recently, that move sooooooooooo slooooooooooooowly on my computer and I have been able to get them to move along a bit faster by doing PC Maintenance and adjusting Hardware Acceleration sometimes. Good luck

It's been awhile since I played that game- but I think I remember if you double click on him he moves faster or runs--

Thanks guys. I was looking more for opinions on the games, as they both seem to be a bit different than the usual AG. I tried to do a search but I find the search function confusing on this site. I just did a search for over 10 weeks old and only found my own thread and one other. Am I doing something wrong or are these games much older than that?

In Next Life I figured out doubleclicking to get him moving a bit faster, but even that is quite slow, so I've put it on the back burner for the time being.

I actually have more of an issue with The Experiment and my comps performance. I am well above the games recommended requirements yet if I have all 3 windows open as well as the map, I still get some lag. Although I think that's more the games engine not being very well optimized.

Next Life was released around November 2007 (before in Europe as Reprobates) and Experiment was released around February 2008 here in NA and a year before in Europe under another name - eXperience112.

Olgeezer -- in The Experiment, lag with three windows open is common unless your video card is "top of the line."

About Next Life - I'm not sure if you're interested anymore, but I do remember that if you double click on an exit, Adam will automatically go to the next screen. I was happy when I discovered this because he stopped using up so much of his "health" while running. Plus, it was a lot faster than having him walk everywhere.
