I cannot install the game Rhiannon. I have disabled my security system, acted as administrator, etc. The icon spins but will not install. I have a pentium 4 processor with VISTA HOME PREMIUM, 2GB ram. What can I try?

Can you read the disk? If not, you may have a wonky drive or a bad disk. If you can read the drive, what happens if you double click on setup.exe?

I had to wait about 10 minutes for it to be recognized by the drive. I don't even think I have anti-virus activated either.

If I right-click the game's icon, it will show the setup.exe. But when I click that my hour glass will just turn-turn-turn. I allowed 25 minutes earlier this afternoon and it just stayed that way. This is the first PC game that has not run on my computer. The box states that it is compatible with Windows XP and VISTA. I don't know what else to do. I can't return opened software. The store will not allow it. So I will be out $30+ if this does not install.

I know this might not help you now, but I bought a game from gogamer.com some weeks ago. It also would not work on my Vista Ultimate. I sent it back and I recieved a full refund. So I do most of my buying from them now.

I've since exchanged this disc for another at my local retailer and guess what?? The same thing!!! It WILL NOT INSTALL!!!!! I am at a loss as to what to try next! Does ANYONE have any suggestions????

Try taking the game, & installing on a different computer.If It does install,then you have a problem on your end,most likely, as been already stated, a bad cd/dvd drive.A cd/dvd drive is easily, & cheaply, replaced.As this is the only game you have had trouble with, this may be the best option for you.

Are you able to copy the contents of the DVD to a folder on your hard drive?
What security software do you use?

I use WINDOWS LIVE ONECARE. I am now attempting to copy the contents of the DVD to an external hard drive. It copied 75% and STOPPED totally. I am so perplexed by this!

Do you have problems with any of your other games, & have tried using another drive to install Rhiannon? Short of that, it almost sounds like a possible,not definite, spyware/virus problem.You could try to uninstall Windows Live, & see If that helps.There may be a conflict with that.

You ought to be able to copy the disc to the hard drive. If you can't do that, you probably won't be able to install from the disc either. There may be an issue with Windows Live One Care, but I would have thought it would alert you if it thought it found something bad on the game disc. It's possible that either your drive is wearing out or that you've just been unlucky with game discs. Is there any way you can test that game disc with a different DVD drive? possibly on another computer?

Make sure that you have enough disk space on your harddrive

Hard Drive is barely 1/4 full. And it's a huge hard drive. This thing is driving me crazy! I've never had something like this happen before.

I tried to copy the install.exe file to an external hard drive. It makes it 75% of the way and then shuts down/freezes. And even with that it takes about 20 minutes to reach that stage! I am stuck here.

Did you go to their website and check out the forums there. There may be a solution. No harm in trying.

Their website www.arberthstudios.com offers nothing. It is the least informative gaming website I have ever seen! As I said previously, I sent off an email to them on Sunday (which is about the ONLY thing you CAN do through their website) but have yet to hear a word. It's like they can care less!

I have installed and played this game. If I remember rightly I had a similar problem, but I just put the DVD in the drive, and just left it spinning away. Nothing appeared on the screen to say it was installing but the green light on the DVD drive was flashing away, so I presumed it was doing something. After about 15 minutes a screen appeared to say it was installed. Does your light flash or does it go dead?

Have you tried anything that has been suggested to you yet, besides contacting Arberth Studios?

Arberth Studios do care. In fact we worked with them checking some members saved games. Try again and see.

If your drive can't read the whole disc, it's not going to be able to install the game. You said you couldn't even copy the contents of the disc manually. It's either a bad or marginal disc or a failing DVD drive. If a drive can't read a disc, it will "just sit there" trying for a while, though usually it gives up. If you have an antivirus or anti-malware scanning at the same time you copy, that can also be holding things up, checking everything being copied for viruses, and possibly blocking some files from being copied.

First things first - we made 'Rhiannon' to be played. The fact that Mughunter cannot play it is a real cause for concern for us, and I offer my real apologies for that. The question is what can be done about it.

I have not had an Email from Mughunter. I've tested our mailbox and it seems to be working. I'm sorry we didn't get the mail and we don't know why that is. Please try again.

I understand that two copies of the game have been tried and neither work, which does point to the computer as the commonality. Unfortunately, we cannot help with the installer software either, because the publisher GotGame did that, not us, I'm sorry.

Vista does tend to take longer to load big executables, because unlike XP it reads the whole file first before attempting to run it. It gives no feedback while it's doing this of course - so it's going to take a while with a little spinning icon. Don't be tempted to click again - because for every click, Vista will try to load yet another copy of the installer and you'll be there for ages.

There's nothing special about the Rhiannon disk - it's just a DVD with a 1.2GB file. As others have suggested, it can be copied to a hard drive. If it won't copy, the first place I'd look would be the DVD drive itself. Copies 75% and then stops - have to say that sounds like hardware, possibly a dodgy actuator in the drive.

Mughunter - I think you should definitely try that disk in another machine. Are any of you guys close enough, perhaps Mughunter could mail it to somebody to try?

Mughunter, in the end, we want you to play 'Rhiannon. If you find that disk does not work in another machine, then the retailer has to take it back. If they won't, contact me and we'll see what we can sort out from here.

Wow! Thank you so very much for your detailed reply. I really appreciate it! I have tried disabling my security program (Windows Live OneCare) and nothing happened. I tried copying the install.exe file to both my PC's hard drive and to an external hard drive - just freezes up. As I said before, it will copy to approximately 75-80% of the disc and then I get the message: "CANNOT READ FROM THE SOURCE FILE OR DISK." I had an original disc with the same problem and returned it to the retailer for an even exchange. They had one remaining in stock which is the one I now have. And they will not give you a refund for opened and tried software. I took this disk to my older son's PC with Windows XP and it basically performed the same with the same results, the same message. My younger son has a Dell Pentium 4 processor with Windows XP and the disc offered nary a move or a spin. So, it my opinion, it can't possibly be three (3) seaparate PCs with different operating systems: 1 - VISTA; 2 - XP. What can I do from here? Many thanks for your assistance!
