I have found a way around the lockup problem with the slot machine. i have tried this on 2 computers and it has worked.
First make sure that you backup your game saves. They are in your my documents folder (Art of Murder - The Hunt for the Puppeteer). After you have done this completely un install the game and delete the Art of Murder - The Hunt for the Puppeteer folder left in your my documents folder. Reinstall the game and start the game and make as many saves as you had before in the first game scene. Exit the game and copy your old backed up saves over the ones you just made. restart the game and play the slot machine and you should win on the first try. Hope this helps

I was browsing around for other hints to the game and discovered this thread by accident (though I did not encounter the bug that Donald described).

I got a chuckle just reading Donald's tip. This must be a strange bug!

Donald, just curious, how did you ever discover the solution in the first place? Do you know why your method solved the problem? I am curious to why it fixed the problem.

The game crashed after the intro movie... Help!

Worked fine at the start though, Windows update done, repair the game done, nothing helps...

Winnie.

Winnie, it sounds like your problem is completely different from what this fix is for -- which is a bug that occurs at a specific location in a game that otherwise is working.
You should probably start a new thread about your problem. Also, since you never get past the intro, it's possible your video card or some other part of your computer does not meet the game's system requirements. So please post your computer's specs so we can check. If you don't know how to find your specs, they are in dxdiag or you can run the Belarc Advisor to find them.

I also had the same problem with the slot machine...

I guess its a glitch in the game itself & has nothing to do with ones computer..

Thanks

Donald,

I tried your approach several times with no luck. The slot machine locks if I use the silver coins and the hold button sticks. If it sticks, then game locks.....sucks having a game you like and can't play.

I don't think so Dar-- I played the slot machine with no problems- actually won the first time I tried.. no sure what the issue is. wave

I had quite of number of problems and crashes with this adventure game program, until I downloaded and install the patch from the publisher Citi Interactive. I usually always go to the publisher first. Then everything when fine.
