I just bought my first large file game from Big Fish yesterday. I was surprised at how long it took to download - about five hours. I have high speed internet & things usually download for me a little faster than it says they will. Is this how long it takes for all the large file games? I bought Dracula Origin.

Don't bother me. I'm living happily ever after.

Calypso, I have broadband also and the time varies on any given day. If you have a real slow connection, you can interrupt the download and then resume. They have many servers and by stoping and starting you can hit a different one that has less activity.
They have a download manager so stopping it will not lose your progress.

I'm not sure if this is the right place but I was wondering if you can back up a purchased large file game from BFG to a DVD? I know you can from the adventure shop and I don't want to keep these on my computer and would rather not have to re D/L.

Thanx Margie

No, If you want a backup CD you will have to purchase them from BigFish at the time of original purchase. The games make registry changes that cannot be backed up to a CD if you do it yourself. Not all games are permitted to be sold with a backup CD either so be sure you are actually getting a game and not a demo CD instead.

Thanx for the quick reply but they actually don't offer back up CD's for large file games (over 600mb). I did email support and will report back. With more and more large file games on their site it is something that maybe they will address.

Thanx Margie

They did address this in their help section. That is why I said not all are allowed to be distributed on a backup CD. They have contractural agreements with the Developers and they cannot send a backup CD.

I don't know where this goes, so I'll start here. I purchased Ahkh 3 and Simon the Sorcerer 4. I had to download the Download Manager. Here is my question: Do I still need to keep the DM to run those games? I don't know how to use it and everything I download goes there (my e-mail, etc) and I don't know how to open them. It took my a while to download the games mentioned using the DM. I would rather get rid of the DM if I don't need it anymore.
Thanks in advance.

This thread is actually about BigFish games, but in answer to your question, if you used the download manager for the Adventure Shop, you can delete it. I downloaded the games from there without the manager and it runs fine.

I got a rply from BFG and a big surprise! Here's what they said:

"Thanks for writing to Customer Support. I can absolutely understand how troublesome it can be re-download large file games since it takes longer to do it. I know you would like to have those large files on dvds.

I am very sorry to tell you this, but currently our CD process center isn't capable of putting large file games on a disk. I agree it'd be much easier to enjoy those large file games if they were available on disks. Let us hope the option will be implemented in the near future.

I have issued a free coupon because of this inconvenience. Also I looked at your purchase history and saw a long list of purchased games! Thank you very much for purchasing so many games so I have issued another coupon for you as well!"

What a gracious reply and very generous gift. I wasn't expecting one coupon never mind two. BFG is absolutley the best- and I will happily re-download those large file games. But it doesn't hurt to ask and maybe it will be something they do in the future.

Margie
