Hi Gamelovers ~ I downloaded the 1 hour free version of it from Big Fish...apparently it is the demo of the game. I finished it with 20 mins. to spare and nowhere else to go. It concludes at this point and thanks me for playing the demo.

Hi Rachel -- that wasn't enough gameplay for you to get a sense of the game? frown

I want to buy the game but I absolutely refuse to buy it with DRM.

Big Fish has DRM- "Yes, an internet connection is required to successfully activate the full version game(s) you purchased along with your back-up CD."

I want to be able to back up my games and not worry that 10 years from now the site will be gone and my games will be worthless.

That is why I can't use online portal sites.

I'd rather pay an extra 10-20 bucks for a non DRM version(previous comment, now deleted, confused the game with ceville).

I just tried the demo, dowloaded from Big Fish. First BF game that demo ended before I ran out of time, apparently Sandlot set how far demo would go. I bought the game. Downloading full version now.

I'd like to clear up a misconception in regard to something you said above; namely, that you would not be able to play your games from Big Fish if the site went under. The founder of Big Fish posted about this recently on the Big Fish forums, and he stated that if the Big Fish site were to go under (an extremely unlikely occurrence, given the financial health of Big Fish, anyway), you would still be able to play every Big Fish game you had installed on your computer, and that the only time the Big Fish Game Manager needs to contact Big Fish is when you unlock the demo version in order to receive the full version.

Marian smile

I'm having a quiet chuckle about that bit because whilst I can see what BigFish are saying ....
IF (instead of waiting and hoping for a disk version) I did download every game I wanted to play and and had to keep it permanently installed in order to be able to play it again in the future at a time of my choosing, I, personally, would have to have at least another couple of extra drives fitted to my computer dedicated purely to holding on to downloaded games !!

Cheers.

Yes, I hear you on that one--and I could easily get to that point myself! smile That's why a lot of folks on Big Fish back their games up on a flash/external drive--otherwise the disk space would eat them out of house and home! wink

That won't really work Marian. You still need to have parts on your hard drive in order for the game to run. It makes registry changes that are necessary to run. That is why they started to make games specifically for installing on Sandisk Flash drives but those games are far and few between.

Sorry to get off-topic here but can you do that with all download games?

On-topic again I see that the game is available at BigFish - re first point, if I have somewhere extra to store these games I would certainly go for it more! smile

EDIT Just seen your post Ana! cry

The ending:

Click to reveal..
She found her father and mother in an alternate reality where time stands still so her mother will never die. Apparently this means she is not going to take her father's place as the ruler of the valley since the butler said the portal to this place was one way. There will probably be a sequel which has her find away out of there, but do we want her becoming Queen since that means according to prophecy that she will destroy the valley, thus destroying Earth, to make way for a new valley.

I am confused! AGAIN grin So what else is new? I got all excited when the release of this one was announced here but somewhere in the back of my (befuddled) brain I thought it was the title to one of the Nancy Drew soon-to-be released games....now I see it is a 'casual' game not related at all to ND (sorry, I do not understand what a "hardcore" version game is). Anyone remember the name of the next ND game to come out in July? Thanks
Love, Betty Lou

Betty Lou -- from what I've read and heard, The Legend of Crystal Valley IS an adventure game, though not a Nancy Drew adventure game. grin

Nancy Drew: Ransom of the Seven Ships is the upcoming Nancy Drew adventure.

Aha, thanks Becky (I just KNEW there must be some reason why that title struck a ND bell in my head grin)

Well, there was a Nancy Drew that released a couple of years ago called Legend of the Crystal Skull. But The Legend of Crystal Valley (not Nancy Drew) and Nancy Drew: Legend of the Crystal Skull are two entirely different adventure games.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! evil

I downloaded from Big Fish, and loved the game. It was a rare game that I didn't always need the walkthrough. I am hoping my nephews will play it also. It is definately worth it. Love that big Fish has so many. The have always been a great company to work with and will answer any questions as soon as possible. I will continue to get games from them. Vicki
