On the Just adventure forums one of the members Karla e-mailed Microids about this and this is what they replied with
"I am sorry I did not answer earlier, but actually the news about Syberia 3 is not a joke: we will launch the sequel of Kate Walker's adventures for sure. I will deliver further elements next week on this. However, I confess there are elements in our previous communication which were April Fools...
"I hope this clarifies it and you will wait for our next release next week!"

Really?  Wow, that's great news! Hopefully, the style of the game they were proposing was the April Fool's joke, and it will be a point and click game as the original two were.  Does anyone know if Benoit Sokal is involved in this sequel?

Created by Benoît Sokal, the character Kate Walker was born in 2003 in Syberia, the first installment of the eponymous series.
Released on PC, PS2 and Xbox, and subsequently adapted for Nintendo DS and Smartphones, Syberia was then praised by the press and players throughout the world and marked a turning point in the history of adventure games with its unique, magical and contemporary atmosphere. In 2004, Microïds and Benoît Sokal then gave new life to Kate Walker with the release of Syberia 2 on PC, PS2 and Xbox. This original and epic adventure led players on the trail of the last forgotten mammoths and, it was thought, brought an end to the adventures of the young lawyer. However, for 4 years, Kate Walker’s huge fan base has speculated on the future of the Syberia series and of their heroine.

At first I was very upset with the press release, saw it as a prank too and didn't post it at MM but I also got my own confirmation that there was some truth behind that prank. Can't wait to hear more next week  CU danyboy

I wonder whether Sokal will be involved with it, or whether it will be made by a completely different team (like Still Life was). I hope not because he always does painted backgrounds in 800x600. Sinking Island didn't have any option to change resolution and with most people having widescreen LCD monitors it really doesn't make any sense. I don't think he ever made full 3D game.

Well way back when Syberia 2 released Sokal did say... About Kate...I have read that you might be considering further Kate Walker adventures, though obviously she would not be with Hans. Any future plans you can share about this?
BS: Well actually, there are no definite plans. But I think the chances are good that we will see Kate Walker’s adventures continue. Seemed at the time there was some writing or thinkng of "further adventures of Kate Walker, not exactly Syberia 3 (according to Sokal at that time) but onward. What did happen to Kate after the resolution of Han's dreams? I somehow doubt she could ever return to New York, so she had to do something with herself. Maybe she opened a bar specializing in Blue Helena's in Kiev or sells comics in Murmansk .... I wonder...

I see Kate Walker back in New York and she is now a very famous author, having sold a best-selling series of books about a fantastic journey searching for ancient lost mammoths in Syberia with Hans and Oscar. People want more, but poor Kate has writer's block and needs to go on a new adventure to get more ideas.
