Thanks, I guess that answers my question.
Do you need to play the game with the disk or can you play it without the disk in?

As you have been asked before, please do not stack posts. If you have something more to say and no one has posted after you, use the edit button.
It's been years since I've played, but why don't you just simply take the disk out and try and run it? The worst that happens is it will ask for a disk.

Thanks, I forgot about the edit part. Has anyone played Myst Uru the Complete Chronicle, and are there a lot of timed puzzles? Also, has anyone enjoyed the game. I'm getting ready to play it,(just installed it), noticed that the game is not real clear. Seems like it might be a bit blurry. Anyone else with that problem? Of course, I'm playing in Windows Vista. I hope I don't have major problems.

I played the Complete Chronicles..almost all....but didn't get to finish...(it is a bit confusing at the end....but now with good walkthroughs out i am going to go back and finish.). I also got to play it online...most of it...and that was Wonderful. I sure miss that. I you love exploration and puzzles you are in for a treat....however, there ARE timed AND action parts in the game...which were very, very difficult for me...very frustrating. But..it is sure a game that you get immersed in and you can 'get away' from it all playing. I believe you need to play for a while before your game will save. OR you can do like i did after i realized that..and just minimize it (keep it running if your pc will let it) until you can go back and play some more. SPOILER i tried to spoiler wrap but i could not get it to work..but here it is: you need to go thru the Tree Door at bottom of Cleft/ravine-then you will be able to save.Spoiler end. I really enjoyed the artwork and the sound so much. I just wish there were more Myst & Uru (but without timed and action(jumping))type games out there. The Rhem games are good too!! (lots of puzzles! and i always need a walkthrough..just not as brainy as the rest of some of the 'boomers!!!)..they're very good!

I played these games about two or three years ago, all of them. I thoroughly enjoyed it and finished Path of the Shell multiple times.
I'm not sure about running on Vista, but you could probably look that up on forums that most definitely exist somewhere on the internet. I don't think there will be any problems, but Vista can cooperate really well sometimes and go wonky on you other times. I really would check out forums first unless you're willing to go ahead and risk the money.
As far as timed sequences go, there are a couple, but in none of which is the clock counting down. That's all I can say without ruining a couple of the better puzzle designs I've seen.
Also, a mod's probably going to do this for you, but this is more of an adventure game than an RPG or Action game. Might be better and get better responses if it was on the Adventure Game forum next door.

I also loved all the Myst games and playing them over and over. Gamenut when you reach a journey cloth and touch it you can save the game there. Have fun Kozy!

Personally, while I enjoyed the locales and puzzle designs (fiendish and unfair though some were) of The Path of the Shell, I was frankly disappointed it didn't offer much in the way of resolution---again. Uru, beautiful and enchanting though it is, is basically just a big tease, and that's a shame. Still, if you have the game and the expansion (or can get them cheap) I would recommend them both, as the lonely atmosphere simply cannot be beat, and you can learn a lot about the D'ni and the DRC if you have sufficient patience.
It's just a shame the game never had a proper ending...
