I haven't heard anything about this game but it looks like a big one that is coming out soon.

What it is saying about combat though seems a little complicated for me. I'm not too fond of directing several groups in a big battle.

It looks pretty good though. Might an interesting change. I think I'll be on the lookout for this one.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I got an email from gameshadow. Don't even remember how I got on their list but they do send me some fairly good game updates and previews once in a while.

Hey, thanks, oldman. I've been eyeing this, but assumed it would stay on the 360. Good news that it's coming to PC and that they ironed out the tech problems.
I'd definitely be interested in getting it. I don't mind the bit of strategy that they seem to have thrown in.

Has anyone started playing this yet? I had no idea at all about it, it was just a new title so I grabbed it!

And it sits there on my shelf ... taunting me ...

Do me a favor will you? When you start to play let me know if it is point and click? I imagine with my luck it will not be, but I will keep my fingers crossed. Also, what is steam???? Do you have to have it, I read in the reviews it does?????

Thanks

Well Maggie, according to the manual it's a mix of both keyboard and mouse, I haven't loaded it yet to see how easy (or complicated) it is, but I'll let you know as soon as I do!

They talk in the reviews about Steam. What is that, I have heard of it, but I do not think I have it.

Thanks

I was just coming on here to comment about that Maggie! Good question!
As I was looking at the manual, I noticed that I have to open a Steam account for this game to play. So I Googled Steam and got STEAM

I'm really not too sure what I think about this, my first reaction is along the lines of "no way" but I guess I'll reserve that opinion until I hear from some of the GameBoomers who have dealt with it.

Hmmm ... smirk

I've found Steam to be pretty good, though I've only bought three games via that mechanism (World of Goo, TM Nations Forever (racing) and Beyond Good and Evil).

Their prices can be very good, and so far, I've not had any significant problems getting content.

I was hesitant to get Steam, but I have had no problem with it. I even bought a game, The Path, which is not available elsewhere. I have all the Half Life games and Portal linked to my Steam account.

I have been using Steam for over 4 years and I have purchased nearly all my downloadable games from it and find it a excellent service, but the prices can be a bit of a hit and miss.

Last Remnant using Steam as copy protection system as well as a auto-update facility. But it stores all you games so you can delete them off your pc and download them at at later date. But you dont have to be online as you can play your games in offline mode. It my online games service of choice but its just my opinion.

Hi- thumbsup praise

Thanks everyone for your input. I had heard the name, but did not know what it was. Guess it will not hurt to try it on one game, if I do not like it I will not use it again. Do you think this is the future and they will all be Steam?

thanks

Steam is highly wonderful. It allows you to play your games from any computer with Steam installed, among other things. Some games such as Dawn of War II and Half Life 2, and the Last Remnant, require it to run.

It doesn't do anything with spyware, so if you just want to have it on there and completely ignore it, you can.

H4XX0RZ- thumbsup

Thanks for that last bit of information, it helps greatly. Does anyone have a link to Steam, I don't want to download the wrong thing. Does it take up a lot of room on your computer??

Thanks

Maggie, you can get it here:

http://store.steampowered.com/about/

I believe there are still some free demos available if you have an Nvidia card:

Portal and Peggle are great fun.

Once someone gets it up and running, tell me how it is. It looks pretty neat, and I was hoping for some sort of a demo to come out.

Well guys, I've decided that I'm just not comfortable with this Steam thing and I won't be playing the game. I do wish I had known about it before I bought it! sad

I'm still looking forward to hearing about tho, it sounds like it'll be a very interesting game!

Thanks! zombie

Hi Maggie, I had steam but found it too intrusive on my computer. I had to block it because when I started the computer it delayed my startup. I also didn't like it connected all the time when I wasn't using it. These were my main complaints. I just blocked it recently and haven't un-installed it yet.

Sherrtah, you can disable the auto- start up feature,as it is rather annoying as I have it disabled even though I use it all the time. its in your settings and its easy to do, Steam isnt intrusive at all as it contains no spyware or pop ups. Alot of modern games are going to use steam or other services to activate them due to high amount of piracy in the pc games market.

Steam doesn't need to be running all the time. Just remove it from your startup list and then when you want to use it, go to the start menu. You can also turn off updates in the Steam menu.
