i kind of like the quests in this game- but the fighting part is so lame.
I know the game has a load of fans so they will love this.

I happen to be one of those fans, Bella, and I bought this right away. However, that being said,I do agree with you that the combat system could use some tweaking. On the other hand, the simplicity does keep it in the casual category, and I think that's good for the series overall.

I love these games!! They are Grrreat
They are just like The old King quest and Quest for glory series

I need to play Aveyond (already purchased) and Aveyond 2 (yet to be purchased) before I buy and play this one. There was a time when I would have gone ahead and gotten it now, regardless, but I'm desperately trying to curb such tendencies.

I didn't think I would like this, and had not played the previous 2, but I think I am hooked

It's a lot of fun, and quite challenging, and makes a change from some of my usual type of games.

I'm trying this game out because Mel is so cute and I like the graphics, but I'm not doing too good as I'm at the beginning of my first quest and can't find the person I'm supposed to meet at Clockwork Mansion. I'm inside, but everybody is asleep! I can't find a walkthrough at Gamezebo. I'm playing the easy mode and have watched the tutorial to get even this far.

These are the only tips I found for this game. Hopefully, it helps:

- Ulaf can be found by going to the school in Thais (southeast part). No need to wander around the entire town looking for him! Amazing how much this town has changed in Aveyond 3.

- Make sure you equip everything and use your companion to level up a bit during the first forest. Those battles and the next few on the mountains when the group changes are very difficult if you’re underleveled… you might even need to restart!

- You can find some goodie caves early on in the game. We found the weapon cave completely by accident, bumping into walls. Don’t look for them unless you only want to play for the story… the Aveyond 3 goodie cave we found had the Osmium Dagger for Mel, which it says is her best weapon in the game.

Oops, from reading the above and the posts at the "tips" link, it looks like this game will be way too complicated for me in more ways than one. So much for my curiosity! Thanks, MaG, at least now I have a much better idea of what this game is all about. I'm glad I tried it out anyway.

The guy at clockwork mansion is on one of the outside balconies.
As well as going up the stairs in the mansion you can go outside from all the floor levels - just take your charachter down to a part there looks like no wall and they go outside.
Took me a bit of wandering around to work that out as I also not familiar with the games.

Anyway - he is standing on one of the balconies with 2 other guys.

There's also a spell cave where you can get all the spells at one time either good or evil depending on the player.

I've been out on the balconies. On one there was a character who just went around saying, "Grrr" plus 2 others who were guarding their own turf and told me to go away, something like that. On another balcony, higher up, there were three robed figures and when I clicked on the talk icon, all I got was "..." and no words. Was I supposed to click somewhere to activate a special message of some kind?

I'm not sure what happened but I went back to the guys in the robes and this time they talked to me! They sent me on a quest for an heirloom. So the game has started moving again and Mel is keeping busy.

One thing I can tell you is that you specifically have to talk to the guy in the red robes. The two in the black robes don't talk. So I'd guess that the first time you happened to click on one of the black-robed ones, and the second time you clicked on red-robe.

It was the red-robed guy who suddenly talked to Mel (really surprised me) and when Mel went back to him, after finding the heirloom, instead of paying her, he had the 2 black-robed thugs grab her and they went through some kind of a magic portal.
I bought the strategy guide from Big Fish so I know a little more about what I'm supposed to be doing, but still finding it a bit confusing. Maybe by the time I understand the game I will get tired of it since a lot of my curiosity will be satisfied. But right now, it is a like a really new toy!
