I like the Telltale email purchase confirmation. No other company thanks you for buying stuff in quite this way. EDIT: New screenshots can be viewed here! What does everyone think of The Beard?

New screenshots can be viewed here! What does everyone think of The Beard? I don't like it at all. I also don't like that his face looks so old and gaunt compared to how it used to. He's completely lost any boyish charm he had in the previous games.

Arrgh! Totally ruined Guybrush for me. Anyway, I'm no longer interested in going back in time to the old games and remakes like this make me even less interested. I'm setting my sights on the new games and hoping that some of them at least will be winners from my point of view.

I don't really think that after all these years, and with all the technological advances that have been made, we can ever hope to have an "original" looking Monkey Island. I'm more pinning my hopes on the storyline and puzzles being as humerous and witty as when they were given to us by the "Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman" team

It's Telltale that had the beard and gaunt face on Guybrush. Becky, the problem isn't the beard. Guybrush had a beard in the second Monkey Island game and still managed to look cute with it.

Although this is great news - I really hate the fact, that Telltale still insists on using the keyboard for control. It'll probably be just like Wallace & Gromit, which I bought just to see what kind of game it would be. I still haven't gotten around to play second episode - which have been out for quite a while now - just because of the controls... too bad, because it's quite a nice game. The one from LucasArts looks wonderful though, and it's one I definitely will get - just to see how it works with todays graphics etc.

Tales of Monkey Island will not necessarily be keyboard controlled. It will use direct control, meaning you "drive" the character around the screen rather than having him stand still until you click on something and only then does he start to move, but Telltale is still working out the execution to figure out a control scheme that feels natural on PC while maintaining the direct control, which allows for a lot of freedom when it comes to cinematic issues such as camera angles, the framing of shots, etc.
Wallace & Gromit was designed for an Xbox controller, but since Tales of Monkey Island is coming to WiiWare and not Xbox Live Arcade, it wouldn't make sense to use the exact same controls on this game, so the team's working on improving them. (On Wii, the controls will be handled through a combination of the controller and the nunchuk.) And speaking of Wallace & Gromit, if you're having trouble with the keyboard controls I strongly suggest trying it out with a wired Xbox controller or Logitech gamepad - the game was really designed for one of these and it plays much more smoothly this way.
The first episode launches July 7, so there's not too long to wait and see how it turns out!

I know they are still working on it, but it looks like it's going to be most similar to W&G. What I mean is, it's not going to be JUST mouse driven. As for a gamepad, although I own a PS2, I don't like them. I simply can't get a good enough control with it.. feels awkward and doesn't do what I want. I'm all over the place with a gamepad - instead of just going from A to B with a mouse, if you know what I mean And yes I have tried different gamepads. But enough about the controls, I've just read through 20 pages concerning it over at Telltales forum, lol.

Not sure I like the idea of chapters, would rather know that the game(s) will be available on PC-DVD. Otherwise this is great news! BTW why would anyone need a hint system in MI1?
have a wish list too long to mention (oops BAAGS flaring up again)but loved Rhiannon and Jack Keane, finding So Blonde a little TOO blonde.

Penruthen -- Tales of Monkey Island will be available for the PC on DVD after the chapters have all been launched as downloads. Are you asking about a hint system for the first chapter of Tales of Monkey Island? Or a hint system for The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition? (It does get a bit confusing. )

I'm like starting to change my mind about both of these games; Tales of Monkey Island and the remake of Secrets of Monkey Island. I've been looking at more screenshots and what do you know? I'm starting to like them, well, maybe like is too strong a word, but I'm definitely getting used to them and finding they aren't quite as bad as I first thought. The LucasArts screenshots showed both the new screens and the old screens (Those really got to me! Oh, the memories!) and now I am sold on it. Especially the part about being able to go back and forth between the old and the new, that's something very different that should prove to be interesting. About Tales I'm not so sure, but my curiosity (now that I've changed my mind about the graphics) will probably kick in and I will buy these also.
To love is to be happy with!
