I've had The Experiment for quite some time now, but just started playing it. I find the game fascinating, with the innovative control scheme, and the story has me totally hooked as well.

Click to reveal..
But.... And this is a big but. I don't know where to go half the time. I'm trying to make the drug that Lea needs to inhale and I've apparently found the 2 chemicals needed. But the way the ship is layed out in the game has me totally confused. For example, I'm supposed to go to Medical to accomplish this task, but I can't find out where medical is!? I finally wandered around and got up to the part of the deck where you're outside, however when I go to the help part of the menu, she states that I need to be on deck 2!!! Well that's nice to know, however when you move to a different area, it doesn't really say where you are that I can see.

It's really to bad because I find this game a breath of fresh air when I do know where to go and it's a whole lot of fun. Is the manual any help as I've recently moved and misplaced it, however will go through the hassle of looking for it if it will help.

Olgeezer -- have you found the little arrows on the top right of the map that allow you to see the map on upper (or lower) levels of the ship? Sometimes you have to click on the little arrows at the top right corner of the map, and then click on something that will get Lea to move (for instance) up the stairs or up onto something at that level.

I found the manual very helpful, though it does use different terminology than what's found in the game. I actually highlighted info from the manual with a yellow highlighter pen to help me remember some of the more important instructions.

Or you could look at the walkthrough here on GameBoomers. grin There are some game/interface instructions included in the walkthrough, particularly at the very beginning of the walkthrough.

Thanks for the reply Becky. I did find the manual and it does help somewhat.

I've actually progressed quite a ways since that post, but only found medical by doing lots of wandering around. This game is quite brilliant when it wants to be, and at other times very frustrating. For example there was this part where you follow a

searchlight
that was very cool idea, however the placement of it was ridiculously close to another icon, and it took me over ten minutes finding it. Once I did, fantastic, however seems like the game should have had a bit more beta testing.

But then I get into the place where you

mix the 2 chemicals
. Great stuff and I enjoyed the h*ll out of it. Lea then goes on here merry way to administer the stuff in a different part of the ship, and goes running off by herself, leaving me in the dust. I then had to go to the different maps to find her. Why oh why haha.

But despite these annoying things the story seems so good that I just have to keep going. Oh and I just found the walkthrough you were talking about. Hopefully that will alleviate a lot of my frustrations.

Again thanks for the help.

Hi olgeezer --

Yes the story is great and the game is innovative and takes a lot of risks, and the result is sometimes sublime and sometimes very frustrating!

I agree with the idea of more beta testing, though it might have taken an army. lol People are still finding little oddities that no one else has found in the game, and many, many people have played it by now.

That's great that you're progressing! There's nothing out there quite like this game.
