Hi Boomers,
Just got my game yesterday and jumped right in to play. I'm having trouble getting the Crests that are up high. Does anyone have a suggestion? Is there a spell that is used?
Thanks,
Spankie

Hi Spankie, I had trouble getting those crests that were high on the walls. I left them till the very end. You have a Endless Day and by that time, you will have mastered lifting things up with Wingardium Leviosa and throwing them at the crests. Some I just couldnt get, but I got about 121 out of 150 so that wasnt so bad LOL I hope you enjoy the game I know I did, it was just not long enough. Thank you Ana and Maggsie - and Looney4labs for the well wishes. I checked out the You Tube link, couldn't find where he shows how to do it, but will keep looking. All I seem to be able to do is throw whatever object all over the place and not up to where the crest is! Grrrr....... Course I'm using the keyboard, movements are all over the place. P.S. Think I'm getting the hang of it, but some places there isn't anything to levitate to throw at the crests. Also does anyone know where the saved games are located? Thanks again everyone....

Hi Spankie, I couldnt get them high enough at first. I found that I could aim better with larger objects, so I would look about for stone benches or tables, plant pots were just no good. For the one that is on the back of the clock pendulum I went into the court yard and lifted a stone bench all the way through the door and just kept lifting it up to the back of the pendulum and a quick left click to throw it.Try and hold it steady with your WASD keys. Good Luck. You can do it. I don't think you can go back to the saved games Regards Maggsie

Hi Maggsie,
Thanks for the great advise. I did get the one on the clock pendulum with the vase in the corner. I've noticed in some places, like in the beginning of the cave on the way to Quidditch, there is no stone to throw. Will have to check around next time more closely. Really appreciated the encouragement, it helps.
Wanted to copy my saved game to play on my laptop while I'm out of town but couldn't find any saved game? Much thanks,
Spankie

Hi Again,
Wonder if anyone can tell me how to get the crests that are behind gates, bars, etc. Wingardium Leviosa doesn't seem to lift them over the gate. Is there another spell to learn that opens those gates?
I seem to be able to hit the ones up high with whatever I can use Wingardium Leviosa on, but it doesn't work with the crests behind bars.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Spankie it took me a while to work those ones out. You lift them up with Wingardium Leviosa and drop them so that they shatter and then lift out the pieces through the gate bars with Wingardium Levisa then use Reparo on them. Hope that works Maggsie

I picked this game up last weekend but couldn't get it to run on my WinXP PC. It installed fine (except that the EA registration screen doesn't believe that PCs have this game!) but when starting the game, my screen would go blank and then nothing further would happen. Switching on the task manager, it reported that the game process was still running, so it wasn't hung in the usual ways.
I gave up after retrying the install a couple of times (adding in some reboots, just in case) and instead tried installing it on our Vista PC, and it started fine on it, although that system doesn't really have the horsepower to play modern games; I had to keep the graphic requirements pretty low for it to run smoothly.
Yesterday it occurred to me what was likely the startup problem. Since the game first presents a three-way choose-a-language screen, I guessed that my system having been set to have Japanese in its advanced language settings was what was confusing this game, and it turns out that I was right!
So, now I can run it on my gaming box, but shortly after talking with Luna outside Hogwarts, the game would freeze, and couldn't be switched away from (no task manager, no Alt-Tab, and so on), requiring me to reset my system. After going through this a couple more times, I tried turning off the second video card (no SLI) and that *seems* to have solved the game's freezing problem.
I only played up through Harry's and Luna's night-time run up to the main building before I needed to quit for the night.
I take it that no one else here has had these sorts of issues trying to play this game?

Croaker, I don't remember anyone talking about having issues getting the game to run.
Do you want me to swoosh you over to the glitches forum?

Do you want me to swoosh you over to the glitches forum? I thought that was usually reserved for unresolved issues, in contrast to ones (presumably) overcome. I was mostly wondering whether my experience was radically different from others here (and somewhat to vent) so I don't think there's any need to adjust things.

Maggsie,
Thanks for that bit of info, will try it on the crests behind bars, etc. So, can I ask, how did you manage to get the one upstairs of the paved courtyard which is behind a tree on the wall that keeps growing back before you can aim anything at it to knock it down?
Coraker, I have not experienced any of your issues on my PC with Windows XP Pro.
Thanks,
Spankie

I have not experienced any of your issues on my PC with Windows XP Pro. It might just be that not many folks with SLI boxes have tried to play this game, I suppose. Thanks for your feedback. You didn't get the EA game registration browser window which didn't admit that there's a PC version of this game?

Spankie that was a real wierd one. I think you have to wait till you have opened the dung boxes and you throw them without trying to get rid of the tree. I am not sure, I am playing it again to refresh my memory. There was one in the courtyard that I got just with the dung boxes and without using Incendio. I will be playing again this afternoon and see if I come up with it again. The crest on the grand staircase, I just couldnt get with the plant pot, also the one on the circular staircase, the knight is holding. I just gave up LOL Enjoy. I saw the film on Sunday 2.1/2 hours great fun LOL Maggsie

Sorry Croaker, I got my pc game from Amazon where it does list the different game platforms. I selected PC I, too, have a regular boxed game, not a download. What I was talking about is what happens at the end of the game install (which, as noted, I've gone through several times). At the point that you get the finished installing notice, it will start up your current browser with a page to register the game with EA. This web page has two pull-down menu selections. The first is the platform/console. The second is the game to register. It's this web page that includes HPatHBP as a choice only for consoles and not for PC. In fact, when the page is first displayed, it complains about an invalid combination (presumably PC+HPatHBP). I don't know how it could be that this same thing wasn't happening for everyone here installing the game on their PC from a boxed purchase, unless they weren't connected to the web at that point. The contents of the EA web page is certainly nothing affected by my system.

Thanks again Maggsie, all your info has really helped and I'm close to being finished.
Croaker - I saw that webpage pop up after install of the game, however, I closed it and didn't register as I didn't want to register at that time. Not sure if it's a very big deal and probably has nothing to do with the game play by registering. Good luck and have fun.

Just got this on 360. Whoop loving it so far apart from getting to the next location is a bit of a chore cos I'm impatient lol. Think it's the best one in the HP series so far.

Hi Boomers,
Wow, thanks for all the comments and information! I loved this game, but could only play by the keyboard as my Microsoft game pad didn't work with the game.
My9rugrats, Thanks for that walkthrough, there are 6 levels now and pictures of where to find the crests. I found 126, now I'm playing in the Endless Day to finish up all that I missed during the game play. Will be nice to discover where the rest of the crests are when the walkthrough is updated.
Have fun everyone,
Spankie
