I have found in other message boards that this requirement is for HD 1080 resolution. If you want to select 1920x1080 video resolution you would need at least 3GHz P4. I don't play in 1080 so I don't care.

Thanks Pirate_Hunter. So the downside of allowing the gamer to adjust the video resolution is that the developer has to list system requirements for the highest resolution, even though most gamers won't play it at that resolution?

Sheesh.

I'm playing at 1024 X 768 and the game looks great.

From what I read on the game forum (mght be Steam forum) the game won't even start after install with older processors (I have an athalon 1.8). So I guess I'm out of luck as well as everyone else who doesn't have at least 2.8 like you Becky. Someone on the forum said they had a 2.0 and it wouldn't run. So save your money gang if you don't meet the specs.

Regards,

Barry

That's frustrating! If anyone with a processor slower than 2.8 DOES get it to run, please post and let us know! Lots of gamers with older computers are hoping to play this game.

Sometimes you can get around spec issues by installing the direct x SDK its rather large to download but it made me able to play football manager 2009 on my bros old 1.6ghz amd x1900+ comp as before i installed dx sdk it wouldnt play.

They advertised this special edition as 1080 HD game. Other developers list minimum specs for minimum supported video resolution.

That wouldn't help but in case someone needs it, Monkey Island SE will install DirectX folder within game directory. It is 100MB large and includes entire DX 9.0c with all monthly updates until today. I copied entire folder on my backup drive in case other games require some missing component.
