I am really stuck!...At crossing the mud pits...The first two moves went fine (tree shadow and then left to In front of dead tree...then I get no further - looked at MaG's walkthrough in desperation and cannot decipher where the third picture is located. Help, please. I would certainly appreciate it.

After two days trying I am still stuck- first two moves are ok, but then disaster...cannot see path which upseydaisy says is there...guess I am really stupid....help!!

If you look very carefully in the water, you can just make out the outlines of a path. I did it first time using this method. Good luck.
