A 4.5 score from Gamespot, although i don't trust gamespot and its reviews it's still interesting to see what they have to say about the game. Users(29) give this a 7.6 average score. Anyone played/playing this willing to give some feedback? Thanks.

Sorry but I had to laugh at this one. I started to laugh after the first sentence and did not have to read further...

rotfl I avoided reading it, it usually just agitates me. They should not be reviewing adventure games. lol

Two words: Brett Todd. The guy has it in for adventure games, and this is nothing new. More recently, he might, every once in awhile, tack on a middling score to a random game, apparently to appease detractors, but for the most part he's obviously more content to be blasting away, and so thinks you should be, too. I don't trust the site as reliable at all, myself, but then again I take all reviews with a grain of salt. smile

For what it's worth: I finished it (very) late last night and liked it a lot. Great story, easy controls, fantastic graphics but maybe a bit on the easy side for the puzzling bit (I actually didn't mind that, it makes a nice change NOT having to peek at a WT every 30 minutes or so)

Not in my top-ten list, but definitely an above-average, solid adventure

Well......

As long as it has no "Mini Games & No Timed Puzzles"

I will love it....I just got done with playing "Secret Files 2" NOW that is a true Adventure game... I enjoyed it very much...

BOOHOO to "Gamespot"

You're better off reading the Adventuregamers review

Gamespot doesn't even have good screenshots for the game.

There's no real timed puzzles, although a few times you have to answer before a red line disappears. But it's not really hard. Just forces you to make a kind of rapid decision. smile

Thanks for the link Jenny.

Well it's official now, we should make a sticky thread where people can bet how low a score GS will give to an adventure game, the winner should be getting an adventure game collection rotfl

Maybe if a good adventure site (gameboomers) were to write to GS and tell em to sort themselves out on the reviews they might listen. I.e get a decent adv game dedicated reviewer or maybe hire one of you guys?

lol We should wade right in and tell them everything we think they're doing wrong? How would we feel if they did that to us?

Hearing from gamers makes a difference. Hearing from an alternate website I don't think would.

I doubt that even hearing from gamers makes a difference, ever since i can remember most of the adventure games coming out are always getting quite low scores on GS compared to other sites. People can also rate a game on gamespot and almost 10/10 times the score given by the players is higher than that of gamespot, and yet the trend continues.

I think GS reviewers do not get what we like in them. For me and maybe others its point and click, nice relaxing to play, a good story to follow within our roles in the game. One thing i think they are after is change and personally i do not want change. Give me thousands of The Longest Journey games and i would be happy with the exact same gameplay just with a diff story each time. We arn't FPS games where we crave the latest in 3d graphics tho it is nice but TLJ gfx do me fine, we dont need fast action infact slow and easy the better lol.

I don't speak for everyone but those are my likes and if i was a reviewer which i have tried a few reviews for Gameboomers here those are the points i would look at in adventure games. Along with stability and saves and timed sequences or lack their of hopefully lol.

I think the GS reviewer is writing the review for the action and shooter types of gamers that make up the bulk of his readers and they will be glad to have his opinion from THEIR point of view. They want their needs to be met, not ours! Who can blame them?

To love is to be happy with!

Oh my, Space Quest Fan,
How so? It is just looking from another point of view. I sort of think that to an action fan that review spoke for him and he was glad to see that someone agreed with him. I have nothing against action gamers, just action games!

There's only one mainstream reviewer that I generally agree with, and that's Chuck Osborn from PC Gamer (US). He's really pretty fair when it comes to Adventure gaming. I wouldn't worry too much about what Gamespot has to say (they screw their heads on differently than the rest of us). grin

I don't usually like action games,I do play a role playing game however. Don't need ordination though, just have to click on skill buttons and character does the slashing, or shooting (arrows) or spell casting.

I think some times you just have to play the game to find out .Ever read up on a game and thought thats not for me then ....shortage of games and this certain game appears again ...Well as I m so bored go on I l give it a go and it as turned out to be one of the best games you have ever played .You just never know .Ok for me detective stories are my faverite but now and then ok I like a change and I have really enjoyed the game .You cant go by what other people think it goes by to many other things ..Like as daft as it seems .What mood are you in .I guess the time factor even comes into it some times .We are all differant and thats what makes differant games for differant people and any way just to get my own pennies worth in at Gamespot what can be more boring than just shooting at some thing .It is still nice to have some thing that keeps the grey matter alive to .Sorry if I have upset any one but there are so many differant catagories of games that there must be one for every body and I thought that was what it was all about wave pacify Im going to suck on my dummy now lol

A great way to contribute is to write reader/player reviews and post them at Gamespot or Amazon or other similar venues. I think reader/player reviews are very influential. I know I read them a lot and find that several player reviews are more informative than one professional review.

I see a lot of reviews by players at Amazon that seem to be hardcore adventure gamers. But not nearly so many at Gamespot.

Maybe it's time we adventure gamers "take back" Gamespot? lol
