Hi Mir My best game was " The Longest Journey" I remember buying it used from England and having a hard time getting it to run. But boy, those graphics!! And the fascinating story. So different from anything I had seen up to that point. Never wanted it to end. This was long before I discovered GB and all the marvelous help forums.

to Boomers mir, So sorry about your husband, I lost my mom to cancer. It's terrible, but almost everyone I know has lost a loved one to cancer. Boomers is the best place to go if you're ever feeling down.Try over in the mixed bags forum, lots of fun stuff goes on over there. It helps to cheer you up. I only dicovered it recently(although I have been a member for years). To answer you question:Shivers! Absolutley loved that game. thracia

Hi Mir and Welcome to GB. I have so many favorite games it's hard to pick just one. My favorite series are the Myst games and the early Tomb Raider games which were a combo of adventure and action.

Mir...i have enjoyed Riven, Shivers(1), all of the Last Half of Darkness games(wow, they just keep getting better and better!!)-all the Jonathan Boakes games, and also enjoyed Barrow Hill (and hope there will be another from that developer soon, Black Mirror (starts of a bit slow..but just you hang in there...), Still Life(#1-haven't played #2 yet), Rhem 1(haven't played the #2 or #3, but Do have them To play when ready!), Schizm:Mysterious Journey 1 (have Mysterious Journey 2 sitting beside me to play soon!), also Syberia 1 (started Syberia 2 but for some reason just could not get into it), Riddle of the Sphinx, Loath Nolder:The Darkness Within, . If you have some good coordination and able to move hands/fingers and like spooky the action/adventures i have played (with either a trainer or cheat codes because have bad arthritis in wrist/hand/elbow/shoulder..where isn't it???-haha): are: Undying(really, really good!), Alone in the Dark #4 The New Nightmare, Curse-The Eye of Isis, Draken-Order of the Flame(not all that spooky but great fun!good game), Wheel of Time(gets better and better as you play it), and if you are able to play these action/adventure games you gotta play American McGee's Alice (i think there is another game called just Alice..this is NOT that game!) it is a hoot!!. I know there's lots of other games i have really enjoyed but those just sort of leapt into my pitiful brain.!

My favorite game is Azrael's Tear. By some coincidence, it's also the greatest adventure game ever made. Every year there's a list of favorite games of GameBoomers that's compiled and AT would win top spot always if Flotsam (the upside-down guy who does this) didn't fudge the results just to annoy me.

If you have not played Tex Murphy Under A Killing Moon you are in for a real treat. Many excellent games have come after Killing Moon it still remains my favorite and I am sure it will become yours also.

This is a great site and I would be totally lost without the help and walkthroughs here.
Sorry to hear of your loss.
The best game(s) I ever played. The Journeyman Trilogy series.

I can't answer this question. I enjoy different games for different reasons. Syberia's for the story and the growth of Kate and the graphics. Sherlock Holmes for the puzzles. Shivers for the horror. I could go on and on. I think that is why I find it difficult to choose 20 games and could never find a single one.
Has any one seen any little gray cells around as I think I've lost some? Reward for finder.

Same here, although my favourite genre is adventures i play online FPS games, offline FPS, flight sims, real time strategy. It's not that difficult to name 20 games i really like but it's difficult for me to choose my most favourite.

Most of my "best games" go on my submission to the annual "Twisty List." One of the ones that didn't is Ripper, which I didn't put on my list because so much tweaking is necessary to get it running on a modern PC. Back when I played it, I just booted to DOS, installed it, ran the 1.05 patch, and it was good to go.
I also didn't put every LucasArts adventure game on the list, but nearly every one is a "best game."
And I don't have any one "best game." Most of them are "best" for different reasons. Certainly adventure games have at least two "sub-genres," and what makes a game like Syberia a "best game" is not going to be the same thing that makes a game like Myst or Uru a "best game," which is not going to be the same thing that makes one of the LucasArts comedy adventures a "best game."

Good point Jenny. I think I had to buy every Sierra or LucasArts game that came out. All you have to do is look at the recommendation list every year and see how many different games are mentioned. I have my favorites but I am just as impressed that I really have not played many games over the years that I didn't enjoy.
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.
