Good news for fans of the series:

Quote:
World Embraces New Tales of Monkey Island(TM) Series, Making it the Best Performing to Date for Publisher Telltale

Building to Anticipated Launch of Chapter 2: "Siege of Spinner Cay" on August 20

SAN RAFAEL, CA, August 18, 2009 -- Tales of Monkey Island, the new five episode adventure from Telltale Inc, has triumphantly set sail toward the open seas. Based on the beloved adventure series starring Mighty Pirate Guybrush Threepwood, Tales of Monkey Island delivers the first new Monkey Island storyline in nine years. This series of maritime escapades has proven a tremendous hit with seadogs and landlubbers alike (otherwise known as 'critics' and 'consumers' for the nautically challenged.) The auspicious debut of Tales of Monkey Island makes it the best performing series to date for Telltale, which recently commemorated its fifth anniversary. The first chapter "Launch of the Screaming Narwhal" quickly catapulted to the #1 position on the top 20 WiiWare service popularity charts in multiple regions around the world for the weeks of August 3rd and August 10th and also secured the #1 slot on the Top Seller's list for Steam's online channel in its launch week.

Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 2: "Siege of Spinner Cay" will launch for PC on August 20th with the WiiWare edition following shortly thereafter. The five-chapter series can be purchased for $34.95 on PC at www.telltalegames.com and the WiiWare games are available from the Wii Shop Channel.

"We're happy to see that Tales of Monkey Island has captured the interest of longtime fans and new customers who can appreciate a great game when it comes across their horizon," said Telltale CEO Dan Connors.

Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1 has been very well received by the media:

The Onion AV Club: A well-deserved fresh of breath air puts more wind in the sales of a beloved franchise.

Chicago Sun times: Grossman and the rest of the Telltale Games team have succeeded in creating a fun and funny point-and-click adventure that recalls the gameplay of the heyday of the original series. The cliffhanger ending should leave you on the edge of your seat for next month's installment.

GamesRadar: Easily Telltale's best game so far, and the funniest comedy adventure in ages.

In the tradition of classic movie serials, Tales of Monkey Island will unfold over five months, with each chapter raising the stakes on Guybrush Threepwood's quest to eradicate an insidious voodoo pox, reunite with his wife and vanquish his arch rival LeChuck. The story deepens through interweaving threads in each chapter building to surprising twists in the grand finale coming this fall!

About Telltale

Telltale's games have won numerous awards, including Adventure Game of the Year accolades from publications such as IGN, PC Gamer, GameSpy, and Adventure Gamers, and have been recognized by mainstream outlets ranging from The New York Times to Variety. Telltale currently develops and publishes episodic series on PC, Wii, and Xbox 360, with plans to expand to additional platforms and channels in the coming year.

Quote:
The thrilling second Tales of Monkey Island chapter, the Siege of Spinner Cay, is out now!

In Chapter 2 - The Siege of Spinner Cay, Guybrush's adventures continue on the high seas as pox-plagued pirates threaten the innocent Mer-People. In between defending the Mer-People and dodging the persistent pirate hunter hot on his trail, Guybrush manages to catch up to his beloved wife and despised arch-nemesis -- but their reunion is short-lived. Now Guybrush must focus on eradicating the Pox of LeChuck before more harm can be done. And as the Mighty Pirate draws closer to a cure, the waters will only grow murkier in this thrilling new chapter of the epic saga over 5 months.

The Tales of Monkey Island series can be purchased for $34.95 on PC at www.telltalegames.com. The Siege of Spinner Cay WiiWare is expected to release in the near future, and will be available from the Wii Shop Channel. The first Tales of Monkey Island WiiWare chapter is currently available on the Wii Shop Channel for 1000 Wii points.

Those who want to check out the free trial version for the Tales of Monkey Island season are encouraged to download it from http://www.telltalegames.com/demo/launchofthescreamingnarwhal . We have a single demo for the entire season -- which is the Chapter 1 demo.

That's great that the computer is up and running. When it's down is when you miss it. grin

I'm about an hour in on Spinner Cay, and already have found a couple of surprises.

Glad to see that everyone is enjoying the episodes so far. I have so many games to catch up on, but I will post my impressions as soon as I finish. grin

I already have the other monkey Island episodes & would love to have this one to go with them!
I really don't want to have to download them as they come out, I would like to have them all at once in one box. Since I am not good at downloading games, I will wait till they have finished creating them & hope they will offer them in a set for PC.
If anyone hears that this might be happening, please keep us posted so I can buy them.

Jtiffin, just like the other episodic adventures that TellTale creates, if you buy the download series you will get the disk free for shipping costs only at the end of the series.

I have finished episode 2 yesterday. Can't help thinking it was shorter than the first and easier I didn't even need to look at the walkthrough once.

I found it that way also ritchiesbabe. Maybe because I knew the controls from playing the first one. It was excellent. Any news on when the next one will be available ? I know patience is a virtue.

I finally got it working after figuring out what was causing my screen to turn black in graphic intense games. Cleaning the fans and graphics card of heavy dust build-up did the trick. I'm loving the first episode so far!

These were definitely great games. I especially loved the little 'inside' jokes in episode 1. Like when guybrush says 'cheese' and shakes his hands like wallace from telltales other series! Or when guybrush looks at a skull and goes "...murry?" That was awesome! LOL
