Hi everyone. I've been replaying Nancy Drew Blackmoor Manor for a couple of days and have been having the best time! I'd forgotten how much I liked this one (except for a certain difficult area which shall remain nameless so I don't do any spoilers!)

The graphics in this one are so gorgeous they just knock me out, especially the stained glass window near Nancy's room, and Nancy's room itself. I find myself just going into the room or standing by that window and staring, wishing I could climb into the game and really be there. SIGH! smile

Anyway, I'm having a blast and just wanted to share that w/ someone (or several someones!) who would understand.

I have a feeling I'm going to keep my old ND games forever just so I can wander around the locations in them again and again and pretend that I live there--wherever "there" might be!

That one was definitely one of the best Nancys. I really enjoyed it too!

This was the first ND I ever played and it's still my favorite. The fact that I was home from work with a cold and it was snowing heavily outside just added to the sense of being a kid reading a fantastic book. smile

I agree Catbelly Blackmoor manor is my favorite Nancy Drew game. There just is not anything that I don't like about that game. I also wish I could jump in the game and be there in that awesome room of nancy's and actually everywhere in that big old mansion is awesome it is so beautiful. I wish we could light a fire in the fireplace in nancy's room. And have the dinner that she orders and drink tea too. I wish we could go into the kitche because I think it would be so awesome. I really like going into the secret passage ways and getting lost down there, the first time I played this game I actually had to turn a light on in my room every time I went into the passages cuz it scared me alot. I just can't say enough good things about this game. It is definitely as far as I am concerned one of the best adventure games I have played, a game that I play and replay several times a year. I wish they would bring back the quality that this game has to the new ones they are releasing lately. Five stars and more for this game and now that I have talked about I am going to have to play it again tonight. happydance thumbsup tomato Trisha

catbelly. I love the ND games. The graphics a great and they don't seem to overload my PC like other games.I've held off buying the latest one b/c of the puzzles. I'll probably get it once it's marked down a bit. smile

I've had all of them (except last one). I've given away some of the earlier games b/c I just don't play them anymore. They're not too far though lol . They're with my daughter's younger friend. Her friend has a little sister who LOVES to play the games with her big sister. They have a great time together and I love to here about their "adventures". We all share hints and ideas. LOVE IT!

If you like the ND atmosphere try MessageIn A Haunted Mansion. It's a early game and one of my FAVES!!!!!!

Saw your post and have decided to replay Crystal Skull. Guess I'm off on another repeat adventure smile

Dear forest animals,
I've been singing for over an hour, where are you?

I'm so glad you took the time to share your replay and to reminisce about the good ol' Nancy days. Am ever hopeful that HI will go back to focusing on Adventure and Story. You reminded me of the reason I was first drawn to this 'world': To wander around and pretend like I was actually in virtual places. And when there are doors you can't open... makes you wonder what's on the other side... (like the Blackmoor kitchen). I still love the 'Nancy world'... but I miss the way the games used to be. Thanks for sharing catrub

Thanks so much you guys for sharing how you feel about this game too. I had fun reading your posts and imagining all of us in our own little Nancy Drew worlds! SIGH

Games like these make me feel like a kid again and my only wish is that they ALL were like this. smile

Hugs all around to my fellow ND-ers!

Cat

Nancy Drew - Treasure in a Royal Tower was the very first computer game of any sort that I played. It was so excellent in many ways - graphics, story, easy to get to grips with the mechanics of playing and very stable.
It was such a good intro to gaming. Since then I've played lots of games including all of the Nancy Drew series.
Blackmoor Manor was indeed one of the best in my opinion and I agree that the series has partly lost its way in later releases. I do hate these timed sequences.
It seems that the developers, in trying to make the "Nancys" more modern and more like other games are incurring the penalties of doing so. Until recently one could, at least, always count on a Nancy being stable. But I had a dickens of a job to install Ransom the other night (took me 4 goes) and yesterday it locked up in a conversation exchange and all computer sound was lost.
Now this may have something to do with my settings. But the point is that I never have had to worry about settings or computer capacity with the other Nancys.
I'm starting to rant so I'll stop here!

I have all the ND games, the first one I played was Danger on Deception Isle, and I was hooked, 2nd was Blackmoor Manor and then I started hoovering them up 3 & 4 at at time.
Being in the UK I did not know about ND, but I'm sure I would have loved the books when I was a child. I really like the Ransom game although I seem to be in the minority.

Blackmoor Manor was one of my favorite ND games as well! Loved exploring the rooms, especially at night, was spooky but not really scary, and the nightmares reminded me of one I've had.
