I just got my bank statement and am being charged a £1.25 overseas transaction fee every time I purchase a game from BFG. I spoke to my bank and they said Visa had added this charge. It has only started since about June of this year and I don't recall receiving any information of a change in conditions of use. I am not happy that Visa are penalising me in this way. Don't they have enough money without taking ours! Can anyone suggest a way round this?

Try switching to PayPal non credit card account.

Thanks BrownEyedTigre. Reply was faster than a speeding bullet(as usual).Will do that. Would rather put the money into BFG so they can keep giving us good value for money!

My brother also had this surprise when he was charged £25.00 for visa services for a year i think. He got upset and cancelled all his credit cards.

BFG-Guy has stated elsewhere that Big Fish is working on allowing overseas customers to purchase games on Big Fish in their own currencies, but that this will probably be a few months down the line. I believe this will also eliminate at least some, if not all, of the bank charges that overseas customers are currently having with these transactions.

I am in the UK and so far my bank has not charged me a fee but I will on the look out for that, the games won't seem quite such good value if they start charging an exchange fee.

My bank charges £1.50...seems a lot but I reckon even with the charge it's still good value!

The same thing happens in Canada. Whenever I buy something from the States, the cost is converted from US to Canadian dollars on my credit card statement, and then the bank charges an additional 2% to 2.5% conversion fee. To further add insult to injury, some Canadian online retailers charge in US dollars, so I flatly refuse to buy from any of them.

This has been the practice of all Canadian banks and credit card companies for years.
