I am in the British Museum trying to decode the cuneiform but am getting nowhere. I need help as it seems hopeless for me to solve this puzzle.

Hi social willie,

Look for any coded words that appear to repeat themselves. For instance, a three letter word that repeats itself many times in a message has a reasonable chance of being "THE". In this cuneiform, the third word of the first line is "THE", and it repeats several times.

Thanks for trying to help but my problem is I don't understand how to decipher the letters. Could someone send me a save after the cuneiform or help me to understand about the letters. Thanks.

From the walkthrough:

Decode the cuneiform by using the sidebar.
Click on a letter at left and select the cuneiform you think it represents on the pop up menu. The letter will automatically replace the cuneiform on the message at right.

Repeat the above process for another letter, and so on.

For some reason there are no letters on my sidebar so I guess that is why I am having such a problem. Do you have any suggestions as to why my sidebar is blank?

Maybe your resolution is not correct.
Play with the options and see if the side bar is lost.

Did you complete the part prior to this, with the stele, correctly? You should have located and left-clicked on the cuneiform arrowed in the screenshot below:



Holmes will then copy down the cuneiform, and that's when the sidebar will pop up for you to do the decoding.

Yes, I have the cuneiform and the pop up menu and the sidebar but there are no letters on the sidebar. Thanks for your help.

Sounds glitchy. There are a heap of saved games HERE that you might find useful. #59 is the one you need. Let us know if you need any further help.

Rushes, Thank you so much for all your help but I am still having trouble. I have been unable to install the zip file into my game. Have tried many things to no avail. I am using Vista and that may be a problem.

Did you extract the save from the zip file first? Have you found the location of your game folder with all your saves? Vista is not user friendly when it comes to installing saves.

MAG, I uninstalled and re-installed my game. I changed the resolution and the letters showed up on the sidebar. Thanks for helping me. Willie
