Czech developers Amanita Design have finally released their new game, Machinarium Machinarium has everything you want from a great adventure games: fun puzzles, outstanding animation, quirky humour and a unique, lovingly crafted, game world. The game's protagonist is a little robot who has been unjustly expelled to the scrap yard behind the city. Players must guide the little robot back into town to rescue his robot-girlfriend and stop the bad guys from the 'Black Cap Brotherhood' before they can bomb the central tower that houses the city's ruler. The game is available in digital download from the OFFICIAL SITE for $ 20 (or the equivalent in Euros and Pounds), where you can also play the demo of the game, or from Steam, Impulse, Direct2Drive and Gamersgate.

What a great looking game !!!! And I read on their forum : " hi everybody interested in English boxed version, we hope to publish some nice boxed special edition version in the future on our own probably, because it seems publishers (especially in US) are not interested in adventure games anymore. " So I'm waiting, fingers crossed, in the hope that that happens in the not too distant future

Me too Mad, I played the demo today and just had to buy it, that means something because I have not been impressed with Adventure games in a long time.
What kind of magic spell to use?

I really love what I've played of it so far. Typical Amanita style. Endearing characters, wonderful backgrounds, and a relaxing atmosphere and soundtrack. If you're reading this, good job, guys!

I'm with Hawka. For an adventure game to grab me, it's saying something. Loving it!
Gardens put to bed. Time for more reading and gaming.

I just finished Machinarium - I found it to be absolutely remarkable in at least one aspect: atmosphere. Kind of steampunk meets Wall-E, but really, so much more than that. And with more heart than any other game I've ever played (I can't believe I just wrote that, as I'm not prone to hyperbole, seriously). The scenes are highly detailed and the graphics are sharp. It is clear that every single movement, every gesture of the characters was carefully considered, and the environments are extraordinarily provocative. The Machinarium world is worn, dirty, damaged and yet not too dark. And cute, but never too cute.
Part of establishing this mood is the music. Bad or too repetitive a score can really affect how much I enjoy a game, even a great game (such as Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor). In Machinarium, the music was highly variable, changing from scene to scene, sometimes more dramatic, sometimes more humorous, and always appropriate and beautiful. The puzzles are VERY challenging. Mostly logical/inventory, but some that were time-dependent. Hair pulling and cursing possible. A couple of the puzzles seemed too abstruse for my tastes.
The game ran very well on my Vista premium (loaded quickly and no glitches).
I just loved it. If you like the demo, you will love the game too, I think.
