Hello Boomers, It's 3:30am and I'm sitting at my computering wondering what has happened. I have to have all the PC games that are coming out. The only problem is then I don't have a desire to play any of them. It used to be that I couldn't wait to start a new game. Is it me or what? Don't get me wrong, I still like to play the Sherlock Holmes games, the Agatha Cristie games(very disappointed that there's not a new one out there), Darkness within, games like that, but I've played them and like those kind of games, but they seem to be few and far in between. Does anyone else have this problem and maybe some advice. By the way I was like the collecting thing with the Beanie Babies (TY)when they first became popular. I quit collecting after I had over 300 and some, Mostly bears. Just something to ponder on this early Monday morning. Everyone have a great day and a better one tomorrow. Ps. I was so hoping that the Dead Mountainers hotel was coming out, now I believe that game would help my problem.

Good Morning Marie. Sounds like you may have to much on your mind to be motivated for game playing or maybe you need someone else to play along with at the same time. There doesn't seem to be as much fanfare for new games so maybe that is affecting your enthusiasm for playing. I've been playing Hidden Object games lately and have been neglecting my adventure games. I have several still on the shelf waiting to be played. You are not alone!

I've had quite the same feeling for a while now. I still have an unfinished chapter 3 of Telltales Monkey Island plus the last chapter of Wallace & Gromit. I just finished Nancy Drews last game though - Warnings at Waverly Academy with only 3 missing stars But other than that I've been hanging around the online casual game room on Bigfish and had a short obsession with Escape the Room games I think it's natural to have down time with playing adventures. It requires you to get involved with the game and sometimes we're just not up to doing just that, lol.

amlamb, I understand what you're going through. I've been in the same boat for a while now. I start games, and then lose interest.
Right now, I'm in the midst of Rhiannon, which I'm really enjoying! At first glimpse, I would say it's because I'm back to a first person game, which I much prefer, although I've enjoyed many games that were third-person perspective.
I don't have an answer for you, unfortunately. Maybe change the TYPE of adventure game you're playing? For example, from detective to spooky, from first person to third person, and vice versa?
Hope you find something that "grabs" you soon. Good luck!
The answer is....chocolate! Who cares what the question is.....

You can add me to the list of persons who are neglecting the old faithful Adventure Games. I have several of the new ones, but I seem to be stuck in IHOG mode these days. I think in my case its a time allotment thing. I can leave a hidden object game for interuptions and not loose my line of thought on whats going on. Adventure games need me to be able to stay with it for longer periods of time or I loose the story line. Too many interuptions and I don't want to have to start the game over again.

For some reason in the last year or so, I've been buying up a lot of RPG's and a few action games, thinking that when I get more time or get "older", lol - I'll enjoy playing them. I have already played a bit of the Bethesda games and Fallout 3, but lost interest again, because, well you know, adventures are what I love, and having to use the keyboard requires me to sit up straight.(I'm lazy that way, lol) Right now I'm just waiting for Gray Matter to come out next year. What comes in between I will of course pick up, but there's no telling if I'm actually going to play them right away. Maybe in a months time, when I once again have a long weekend with both monday and tuesday off, I'll dive back into those unfinished games.

Hi Mary,Cherie, Missslilo, Connie and Kaki's Sister. Thank you all for your input. Yes I hope that the fun will return soon. I'm really waiting for Black Mirror 11 with anticipation. Also I want to play the sequel to the Darkness Within and there's a few more on the horizon that I think may pull me out of my slump. You all have a good day and I hope a good gaming day

Hello Sorta Blonde, Marian, Anne2, and Jody 319.Thanx for your thoughts on this, it's nice to know they are others out there that are having the same problem. I'm a breast cancer survivor and I used to love to play my games to take my mind off of Chemo. That's been 3&1/2 yrs. ago. That was during the Dark Fall games, the Black Mirror, Sherlock holmes and of course all of the good ones. I have plenty of time since I can't work anymore, but I too play some of the HOG games from Big Fish. I finally got around to playing the Riddle of the Tomb, haven't finished it yet. I think I just gonna wait until some of the good ones come out(Like the Lost Crown) and others before I buy anymore. It's just hard to say no. I've got about 4 games on my computer now and I start playing and just quit after about 10 minutes. It maybe that it takes a lot to stimulate this brain of mine since Chemo. I just don't know Oh yes Jody319 I love TN also. I've lived here for 55 yrs. and I'll probably stay here until I go to my permanant home.

Oh, dear !! Am I in a minority then ?? Because I'm having as much fun as ever with my Adventure games I do intersperse them with RPGs (those that I can manage, anyway, not being a combat genius ) and I also re-play oldies from my collection inbetween newly released games. But casual and hidden object stuff have no appeal for me. I definitely prefer a "proper" adventure and a full length one. The short chapters available by episodic release (currently popular) are not my cup of tea, either. I've only ever gone for two - and that was solely so I could get the CD offered at the end of the run So how different we all are .... And a good job too !!

Hi, Amlamb..
I get into a slump also...I have three Games loaded to play....I play maybe two hours worth. Then lose interest...
I do think its the game it self & not me.. I agree Lost Crown..I just had to finish it..It was interesting...I never really get involved with story, but that game had my full attention..
The Syberia games had the same "Got To Finish" effect on me..

Mad, I am also still loving my adventure games, so you're not alone. Unfortunately, I can't really get into casual games, as I play largely for story, the more epic the better. Puzzles are important too, of course, but I can enjoy a Dreamfall every now and then. Granted,I may not be able to sit and game for hours at at time, but even an hour or two will allow me to become immersed, and I tend to remember pretty well what is going on when I come back to the game. That is why I am so looking forward to Gray Matter in particular, even more so now that Jane mentioned how big the game would be. In the meantime, there are a lot of good-looking games coming out in the near future that I am also looking forward to.

. Hi Mad Darleen03 and Venus, Mad and Venus I'm so glad that you two are not in a slump. Believe me, I'm trying to get back up and running. I see they are several Boomers that seem to have the same problem. What I think has happened is that I was spoiled by the games(Black Mirror, All the Dark Fall games, Siberia games, Sherlock Homes, Agatha Christie games)now those games I couldn't hardly walk away from. I too am waiting for Grey Matter and Black Mirror 2 and some of those games like Barrow Hill, and The Lost Crown. I think then I will be back to my old gaming self again Thanks for the imputs on this from everyone. So in conclusion I don't believe it is us, it's just the good games are few and far in between.

Life's stressors have had that effect on me, too... just not able to play. Getting involved in an adventure seemed to be too much to handle, so it was easier to turn to quickie games (Scrabble & --at Chief's recommendation-- All-Star Puzzles are regular game 'go-tos'... no matter what). Recent playing of Lost Crown & ScratchesDC has rekindled my interest. And with the approach of Halloween, BAAGS seems to have set in again. Right now, the gentle, yet eerily unpopulated & quiet atmosphere of MDNA's Norrköping, Sweden ("Black Circle") is calling... & just around the corner. For me, it's a perfect game to really get back into the mood. Then there's "Darkfall 3" & "Barrow Hill 2" & "Lost Crown 2" to look forward to.
Last edited by Carrie; 10/21/09 12:26 PM. Reason: Proof of BAAGS: Just got all 3 LHODs, plus Delaware St.John 3... yeah, it's back. Also editted to add "Lost Crown 2" to my upcoming goodies... just checked my wishlist.. good thing IT'S up-to-date!

OH Marie I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with your games. I had a problem with the Black Mirror game. I bought it when it first came out and I played it and loved it, but I sold it. well I bought it again about 1 month ago to play it again. Well low and behold I couldn't get it to load. I found out that it won't play on Vista and that is what I run now. First time I played it was on XP. OH, by the way we share the same name. HI Carrie, I too am thinking about Halloween so I have finally download (LHOD) the Tomb of ZoJiR and am going to try playing it. If anyone's played it, please let me know if you liked it.

amlamb - Tomb of Zojir is one of my favourite games of the year, I think it's superb. Have fun with it! I wasn't aware it was available for download, though?

Hi Rushes, I'm sorry I said it wrong. I meant that I had the game on DVD Rom and was going to download it from the disc. My bad. I should have chosen a different way of using my words for posting.

Hi Marie, Yes I used to sell my games right after I played them, then I wished that I hadn't. So now I try to keep all of them so If I don't have a new one I'm interested, I can play a oldie but goodie.
