It's that time again when I am completely mystified as to what to do next. Guybrush has 2 witnesses left: McGee and Krebbs. I have the monkey but can't get it to do anything with the cat although it seemed like such a good idea. Have the violet (right color, I think)boot leg lamp, but can't get the right shape. I can't get into the jungle yet, is there really something to do there, I wonder?

laugh Hi mindy,

I've been waiting for you. I relive the game through you and enjoy it.

Cat: You're at the right track here. The clue that was stated in the briefs is what if the cat moves.
Remember this monkey is electromagnetic. Have you seen anything that will react to its magnetism?
Note what is Hemlock doing to the cat?

Scar: There are 5 fluids that you can get all around there. They can help make the shape and color you want.
Remember you want the Jolly Rogers shape and you want the purple color.
What 2 colors make violet?

Thanks to those hints, Guybrush is free and working on the recipe for the sponge. Has the lion's paw for the second course and the pepper for the third course. I'm pretty sure he has to get Stan's shiny jacket, but how is something else again. I thought the moths would do it but they just flew to the sign. Wait, I just thought of something ... I'm going to go try it. In the meantime, I'm also in the jungle looking for the sixth sense to the future and I'm guessing it has something to do with the wind control device and the 2 idols under glass. I've seen the burned down voodoo shack and the moths that were there are now at the altar, but why I have no idea. It just happened when I was fooling around with the burned out leg. I'll be back.

Sooner that I expected, my idea fizzled out , so I still don't have Stan's jacket. Maybe I can't get it until I have courses 4 and 5 figured out. The sixth one is supposed to take care of itself after all the rest, wonder what happens then!

Great that you got him out of the brig.

6th sense - play with the map folding.

Read the description of the moths in De Singe's lab.

I'll wait to see if you worked on your ideas first.

---------
Moths = likes bright lights. Check the wares that Stan sells.

Oh my, I get so close to the answer and then I miss it. I try everything the hard way and miss the easy way, which is why I need your valuable hints, of course. I knew the moths held the key to getting the jacket, but when they went to the sign instead, I was stuck. Then I got the idea (this is the hard way, I guess) to try to break the sign using the now dark leg/paperweight so the moths would go to the jacket, which didn't work but the hint about checking Stan's wares worked perfectly, how easy and yet I never would have thought of it. I don't know why since I try everything so many times and then stop the one time I should try again.
Okay, I did the map fold and got the edges placed and found the 3 idols. The green one is missing one of its wheels and isn't turning like the other 2, well 3 if one counts the idol at the device. But haven't been able to do anything else with them.
Back with the sponge, I did the first 3 courses by combining the inventory items so now there is a hot, stinky, colorful sponge waiting for the fourth course, the future? And I don't even have a bad idea at this point. Voodoo lady isn't being too helpful. Guybrush has the key, she says. Oh?

I know what you mean. Miss the simple answers because the former gameplay sort of trains you to check the out of box solutions first. Ha. They train us to have devious minds. lol

6th sense: This stumped me for hours until I just flipped that map several times.
Note that in one flip: all the 3 colored idols are seen.
BUT in another flip of the map the last colored idol has a mark connected to it.
So work the first map. Then flip the map again and follow it to check that mark. luck

I am going around in circles while DeSinge and Elaine are fighting and have used up all my "little grey cells" for now. I know the moths are circling the eyes of the machine, I have the fireflies around the sugared water bucket. Using the hook on DeSinge cuts his cheek, but doesn't get either the sponge or the severed hand. Guybrush won't leave so there is nowhere to go, which means the answer is here, but what can it be? After talking to DeSinge, Elaine cuts him with her sword, but that doesn'nt seem to help much except to show the moths, which I think are the answer, along with the fireflies, but...?

The hand gives De Singe the Ju de vie.
You have to get it off to give Elaine an even chance in the fight.

The turban holding the hand is made of cloth.
Remember the incident at Cafe 41 and the warning of the bartender. It caused Guybrush to run to the bathroom.

Oh yes, I remember, I had Guybrush running to the bathroom several times before I figured that one out. Even when I knew about the tongue thing at the lab it took me a few tries to get it all lined up right. Kept messing up with Guybrush talking, once I even stopped and had him read the sign outside the door to the club.

Now, I'm still reeling from the ending! After the first time I clicked on Resume instead of Quit and actually watched it a second time. I'm sure glad there will be another episode, or otherwise I would be totally undone! Which reminds me, what is that about Morgan's body just disappearing? Is that something else that will be explained in Chapter 5, maybe?

I was also very disconcerted by that ending. Very...
I sure hope Chapter 5 answers all of these.

Gee, MaG, I was so completely unnerved or whatever by that let's-call-it-strange ending that I forgot to thank you for those grrreat hints! They were perfect, just enough to get me thinking in the right direction without giving anything too much away. Once again, they made playing Guybrush and Company an extra treat, something that doesn't happen with walkthroughs, which are helpful, of course, but not as much fun. They give the game away too quickly, I think, but are very useful with those games that aren't all that much fun to begin with since speed is a good thing there, I find anyway.

I am now hoping that Chapter 5 will continue the saga of Monkey Island in such a way that the ending will be very satisfactory, maybe even spectacular! But then I'm also of the mood to hope that the crew making the game will be interested in trying it again next year rather than move on to other games. Hmm, I think I'm a victim of course 4, the look to the future one!
