Could someone tell where to position the Staff in the moon room, and the # of flies.?

The position of the staff was seen in a diagram in the book at Tara's house. Place the staff in the 5th hole from the left, then examine the moonlight in closeup. A line of text will appear at top of screen telling you how many moths appear.

I finished the game but it has a code to type in for extra stuff, but I went on the website it told me to go on and time this code I found.

I can't find where I'm suppose to type. could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
