I'm playing Still Life 2 for Mac, and discovered the motorcycle print outside the killer's house--but the game didn't automatically call Claire. I've looked at and analyzed the track again and again to no avail. Is there something I can do to trigger the call (I'm up to the point where I've confronted Halloway about impeding the investigation), or do I have to go back to a saved game before discovering the tread?

The motorcycle tire tracks is close to the stairs.
There's another tire track closer to the gate.
Be sure that you do the one close to the stairs.

I've done both...uh-oh.

Look around for more tracks and also retest both that you saw. It might loosen the stumper.

I replayed a bit but skipped things to get that spot.

- Move to left side bannister of the stairs.
- Look close at ground.
- See footprints beside a narrow tire track.
- Do a 3D scan of the narrow tire track.
- Then do database analysis.
Vic will then say to call Claire since you only got 50%.
Pull back out and Vic auto call and leave a message for Clare.

I ended up having to restart that segment of the game, and the call worked. Now, however, I have another problem--Vic is in the yard after escaping from her cell, and the walkthrough tells me she should be finding something with the metal detector near the backyard gate, but nothing's happening. Do I just need to adjust the metal detector to get it to work? What setting should the metal detector be on, and where exactly is the hot spot for the bike wheel?

If it matters, I got around the mines by stepping on two (and using first aid afterwards), and dragging the target over one.

If I remember correctly, there's a manual for the metal detector.
Yes, adjust the setting of the metal detector to find the different metals.
For the ones by the steps, use setting 1.
For the bike spoke: Use setting of 4.
