Grandma -
I can't figure out where you are. What machine? What code? What arthritis? A grip on what wheels? If you could be more specific about where you are in the game, I might be able to help.

Grandma -
I think I might have figured out where you are. Working the robot in the sapper room? If so, read on - - otherwise ignore me.
The handle moves the robot arm right, left, up and down. The left button opens and closes the clamps on the arm. The right button resets the arm all the way to the left. The clamps must be open to move the arm right or left.
Move the arm to the first dial. THE CLAMPS MUST GRAB THE SILVER KNOB, NOT THE DIAL ITSELF. Close the clamps and move the handle up or down to rotate the dial to 6. Open the clamps, move the arm to the silver knob of the next dial. In this manner, set the dials 6812.

Grandma - - yes, I'm afraid so. The clamps can be a teensy bit off but not by much.
To make fine adjustments, you can't hold on to the handle when you move it. The arm will move too far. Just click on the handle without moving the cursor and then rapidly flick it left or right, letting go of the mouse button right away.
If you release the mouse button too soon, nothing happens. If you hold it down too long, the arm will move father than you want it to. The trick is to flick and release, flick and release. With some practice, you will get the timing down.
None of this applies to moving the handle up and down to set numbers on the dials. No timing skills needed for that.

Grandma - Glad to hear you are past this.
I'm curious, though. What do you mean by "actual things on the computer"?

I mean things on the laptop that you use instead of a mouse. They are at the bottom middle of the computer and you somehow move them with your hand. In addition, I also mean the arrows that go up, down and from side to side.

Stuck in wang's lab using the scanner on the card. I've clicked on the front and back of the card so many times but I can't get the right combination. Looked at the WT but no help. Is there a way to do it better. Maybe somebody has a save. Richard

Which walkthru did you look at? The one that comes with the game has no explanation. Take a look at the walkthru posted on this (Gameboomers) site for a full explanation.

Unless this task is randomized, the solution is not too bad.
Display the back of the card and select the circle second from the top. Make sure all other circles are inactive.
Display the face of the card and select the circles at the top and the second from the top. Make sure all other circles are inactive.
Now click "Analyze." Unless this is a randomized puzzle, you should get reports of 5 murders.
Sorry, I have no save to send to you.
-------------
Ooops . . . I just saw that you got it already. Ignore my other post.
Happy gaming!

boots -
Thanks for your kind words, and you are welcome.
I liked the game, too. The Art of Murder series, the two Chronicles of Mystery, and Culpa Innata are among my recent favorites. I like dialog and an intriguing story line.
Let me know if you find another good game?

Grandma, you need to pick up the lamp and then place it on the post behind you (to the right). Then take the can and the basin. Place the basin on the submerged post ahead of you and then place the can on the basin. Now you can hop across. ------------- Oops, I just realized you are at a different place. In answer to your actual question, as Nicole is talking, you see a post rising up out of the water. Put your cursor on it and be ready, When she says, "I wish I could move it up," click the post as quickly as you can.

Grandma, if by "jump back and forth" you mean jumping back to a post you had already been on, I don't recall ever needing to do that.
No matter - - you made it across both ponds! I became alligator food about 6 times before I finished my map sketch of posts to avoid.

I'm in the theater after the train/car accident, trying to secure evidence. I've done everything that the walkthrough says to do - taken a picture of the symbol, the card - and secured it - the clipping, the seating arrangement in the theater, taken the reel of film....but when I try to go out the door she keeps saying, "I might have missed something". Now what?

How can I get past the laser puzzle in the factory? No matter where I turn the knob, the factory blows up, and the knob won't stop between the diagrams.
