According to my list of things to do, I have not checked the mp3 player to see if it has charged. I placed it in charger and later came back and scrolled down to "Riannon". When I push play, there is an error message and the no headphones light flashes. Am I supposed to have headphones, and if so, where are they? Thanks for the help!

You won't be able to play the music, just examine the Rhiannon display screen and see what information that can give you.

I did exactly that and yet it has not been taken off my list of things to do. ???????

Once you've used that information elsewhere I think it should be taken off your To Do list.
