I'm at the point where Martin is at the camp and he is supposed to talk to the "soldier at the gate" and then fix him some dinner. I have gone over this so many times making sure I have done everything, even with the walkthrough. All, I get is "I don't have anything to say". Any suggestions? As always, thank you. Judy D.

Hi Rushes:Well I did as the note from Bob said, however it didn't work as there was no light at the bottom screen; only the can opener, etc. I wish it worked as I like the game. Any other suggestions? The poor man just walks in the rain! Ha. Thanks for all you do. Judy D..

The light should appear as an icon for a conversation topic when you try to speak to the guard.

Did you try the tip given by kszanz -

Go towards the guard at the mine, at which time the character comments on the light being too bright. Then you head towards the gate guard but stop and click on the light by the bridge on the way. When you finally talk to the guard at the gate, you will be able to talk about the lights and everything else.

Rushes: yeah! after twice walking back and forth, the icon was present and the game continues. Thank you once again. I am so pleased that I joined this site. I am new with these large files and with all the intricacies. I never feel insulted because I'm asking what seems simple to experienced players. Judy D.

Well, I don't what I did. I had the locker open and was even in the mine. Now I back in the tool place, made a mistake of not having him open the tool bag, so now he won't and I can't get him to use the hammer on the locker. What a mess! Thank you if you can help me on this one. Judy D.

What happened, did your game crash? Did you have to go back to an earlier game save? If the toolbox is unopened in inventory, right click on it to open and empty out the contents.

Well Rushes, I did get the tools out, but I cannot get him to use the hammer on the locker, no matter what.I think I must have clicked on an earlier save where I was having the initial problem, but I got through all of it, except this. I really enjoy these games, but I sure am green as you can tell. Thank you once again for any advice Judy D.

Did you pick up the rope from the shelf yet, and use the screwdriver on the lid of the generator? Are you able to examine the padlock in any way, either by left or right clicking on it, before you try using the hammer?

Hello: Well, I finally did what you said and after a few tries, it worked and I am in the mine and progressing. Thanks so much for your expertise. It is quite humbling for me to have a masters in nursing and worked for 20 plus years and then to get so stuck in these games. I have to laugh at myself and am so glad game boomers are present.
