Charles Cecil of Broken Sword fame is executive producing 4 new (free) Doctor Who episodic adventure games for PC and Mac, starting in June. Each is said to take about 2 hours and is being penned by writers from the BBC TV show and developed by Sumo Digital. The screenshots and the rest of the info about the games is looking very promising so far-- http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/bulletin_100408_01/adventure_games

The article talks about free downloads from the BBC website so they're not necessarily limited to the UK.

From all the articles I saw this morning, they are interactive movies, so I wouldn't count on it being too involved. They are designed for the regular TV viewer to enjoy with theor families. Ana

Glad I could share some small thing back after all the wonderful help and info I've gotten from GB over the years. =)
@Becky: I was wondering that too--since people outside the UK don't pay the BBC service fee, will they allow the rest of the world to download it for free (or at all?)
@BrownEyedTigre: To me it looks a lot like the Broken Sword 4 engine that Sumo Digital also worked on. There's one screenshot (10 of 13) where the car has a glowing blue outline and I assume this means you can interact with the car or anything that has a glowing blue outline. In another screenshot (7 of 13) the same car is being pushed by the Doctor and his companion. Hopefully this clue and the fact it's in realtime 3D is an indication there will be more to do than an "interactive movie" style game, but I guess we'll see! Though there are monsters in the show, the Doctor relies on his wits rather than violence so hopefully that will be reflected in the game with no weapons and only puzzles.

That looks very interesting. The new season of Dr Who starts on the 17th of April on the Space channel here in Canada. I hope I will like the new DR as much as all of the rest.

AS I previously tried to mention, these are not adventure games as we know them to be. They will be interactive movies designed for family playing together. You can find more details Here. Note this: Cecil told Develop he wants to strike a balance between accessibility and challenge as the games will be targeted at the show's incredibly diverse audience.
He said: “Generally the gameplay is driven by stealth, minigames and a little bit of object interaction. But it’s not an adventure in that you are scratching your head trying to work out how to use two abstract objects together." Ana

Thanks for this! Sounds awesome and hope it's available (for download) in the US.
Seems it would be, so I'll keep an eye out for the releases.
Thanks, again.
