I would like to buy some adventure games on disk or download to disk. Does The Adventure Shop do this and what other companies would?

If I buy from The Adventure Shop can I download to my computer and then to CD disk? Have the license too and without the internet to play?

Will I have instructions, if it is more than 1 disk?

The FAQ of The Adventure Shop states:
Download your game up to 6 times
If you need more than 6 downloads, request more from Customer Support
Of course, you can always burn a copy of your game onto a CD

Yes - you have the code.
Yes, you do not need internet to play since you installed the game on your computer.
The instructions are mailed to you together with the code. Also the help page has some instructions.
If further help is needed - mail their support. luck

Maybe the question is whether you can install the game from the CD to a computer that has never been, and never will be, connected to the Internet -- and use the code to unlock it and have a working game. Or is it not going to work unless it accesses their online server and "activates."

That is it, that is my exact question! Will the game play if you bought it in a store without internet access?

Thank you Jenny100

Hi to all,

If you purchase the game from Adventure Shop, you will download and save on your computer one or several large files (archives) containing the game data.
At the same time of your purchase you should receive an email with your activation key. This activation key is valid for 6 online activations. This key is usually requested during the instrallation process and its validity is checked on internet.

So, you can save on a CD, DVD, or external HD the data of the game you have purchased. This is not necessary as you can download it as many times as you want.
However, you wil not be able to complete the installation of the game without an internet conenction, which is required to check the autheticity of your key.

Piracy is a plague, and a minimum copy protection is required by Publishers and Developers.

I hope it helps.

Thanks, Damon! wave

I definitely agree - Piracy causes us adventure gamers to lose quality games and great developers.

Further clarification:

Using the internet:
You download the game and install it with the key given to you. This is for verification of the key.

Without the internet:
You can play the game from then on in that computer you installed it in.
The key you got will be kept in the computer you installed it in.
If you place the game on a CD and then delete the game from the computer - you can install the game again WITHOUT internet on the SAME computer you played-installed it before.
But if you changed computer or OS - the key activation will be lost; you then reinstall, download or request a new one from TAS. That new computer or OS will now have the key.

Hopefully that is clear.

Thank you to all !!

Hopefully the company is not going out of business down the way in 5 or 10 years.

If other companies go out of business with the activation key then the game will not play. Oh my.

If you keep the same computer you activated the game on and not erased the registry; you can still play. Hopefully that computer will still work too. smile

Piracy is a plague, but the remedy for it is not user hostile copy protection schemes. I'm waiting (not wishing) for the first of these on-line download only retailers to go down and watch people's reaction when they fail to install and play their legally purchased games. Having a game from The Adventure Shop saved onto a disc is a waste of space.

The only retailer I buy DRM-protected downloads from is Telltale who I kind of trust will release patches for their games if they, god forbid, would be on their way out of business. I would not trust The Adventure Shop to do the same. Guess they'd not even be legally allowed to, given they do not own the rights to the games they sell.

Btw, look at gog.com. DRM free and they're selling games like there's no tomorrow. Perfect to buy, download and archive for future use.

Well The Adventure Shop is just and affiliate for gamesplanet, games are actually cheaper if you buy directly from them, but the only online gamestores i trust is gamersgate and steam they are both the biggest companys around i dont think u need to worry about not being able to play your games anyday soon, and i know steam said before if they go out of buisness there will be some patches available for the games to run without steam anymore.

zak, GameBoomers checks their affiliations thoroughly and only accept those that have great customer service and are dependable. Purchasing through the buttons above that link to InteractCD and TAS helps support GameBoomers, otherwise this is a privately funded website. Using the links above is greatly appreciated.
