But why would it only do it when on battery? Could the battery be defective and not getting fully charged?

Ah, I see. And since the video card is a pretty weak one to start with, if it downclocks while on battery, it might not be able to keep up. That makes sense.

My laptop has the power save option and it does other weird things like reduce the window in some games, irritating. I think you can bypass it though, at least you can in my Asus. I keep mine plugged in most of the time now, just to make full use of the graphics card.
What kind of magic spell to use?

But why would it only do it when on battery? Could the battery be defective and not getting fully charged? Check the laptops Power settings (in control panel) - many slow the video processor down (and dim the screen) when not plugged in.

I tried all your sugg', the refresh rate is at 60, but I don't know how to slow down the video proccessor, but I went online to ATI RADEON, and they said they had a problem with laptops flickers and theys showed me a bunch of options which I download the page! also the video/page only flickers when I move the arrow (mouse),not like you guys with an decktop com! I remember when I had an 256 K and 40 hard, i had to put in an video card ($124.00 back then), to play my games! I am sure not hell enough to open up a laptop, I flew Helo's in the Marine Corps, but I am not touching the inside, but I hate to give up and send it back to the manufacture!!!! THANKS ALL

Well people, I'm back again, the computer messed up again a day after I restored it, so I got on the phone to the company (ready to raise hell), I got hold of an East Indian support guy who said that the ATI RADEON Card was adjusted for max power from the factory specs,so he talked me through it starting from ( F2 ), for 42 min. and about 30 changes, this com. is finally fixed and is faster than it ever was! ,but as an precaution the company is sending me an free shipping label to return it, and it take's about 10 day's to get the shipping label,if something happens between now and then, it is going back !!!!!!! THANKS ALL
