A new Masterpiece Mystery July 11 (tonight): "Murder on the Orient Express" will premiere on PBS. David Suchet also took a trip on the train (as himself) in an hour-long special (aired last night, July 10th). Funny hearing him speak in his British accent... and not as Poirot... and no handlebar moustache either! Click HERE to link to PBS... where you can check when this Masterpiece will be aired in your neck of the woods. Made me want to dust off my Agatha Christie game to play again!

I just finished watching it. In the game, you get a much better sense of the environment in the train, whereas in this PBS production the characters come to the fore. This production was more of a psychological study, eerier.
I missed the game's alternate ending, which I thought was quite affecting.
If anyone else saw the PBS production, I'd be curious as to what you thought of the music.

Thanks ever so much for the post and the link, where I immediately watched it online.
It was most enjoyable, and Becky the music was specially paired to the subject matter at hand. Including the rendition of the Poirot theme by the pianist onboard.
My copy of the game will be dusted off and re-played this week also in anticipation of the new Masterpiece Theater production of "Murder on the Orient Express" starring David Suchet as Hercule Poirot.

Katbear -- it was the Masterpiece Theater production/movie that I saw right before I posted earlier in the thread -- it's being shown at different times in different areas, I guess.
I also watched a bit of the David Suchet special as he rides (and at one point, even drives) the Orient Express. I didn't notice the music on the David Suchet special the way you did! It was the music in the actual Masterpiece Theater production that struck me as unusual.
In the game, Poirot is set apart from the other passengers because he's injured. In the movie, he's set apart more by his reaction at the end, I thought. (Don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen the movie yet.)

Suchet's brother is a news reader here in the UK and you cant half hear the similarity of voice in this. Never really noticed it before.

I haven't seen Mystery in years. When did it became Masterpiece Mystery and get a host again?
I've been renting Poirot DVDs from Netflix.

Hi Becky, My physical copy was being cantankerous last PM, so purchased one from Steam. Great copy that, much better than the original which I initially downloaded from BFG. And this is me who foolishly stated I don't replay a game after I know the butler did it I'm looking eagerly anticipating this new production. I missed it last night but i'm sure it will be on again. Sounds good. David Suchet/Poirot Specials Hi there, Kaki's Sister! you can do like I did for the train special sign on to www.PBS.com and watch it on your computer.

Yeah I remember when "Mystery!" lost their grant from Mobile Corporation and so couldn't afford a host, just went right into the episodes.
