lovely, lovely game - I'm playing the second time, more slowly this time in order to enjoy the gorgeous graphics - so looking forward to the sequel

looked up Silverback Productions, and discover they're a Canadian company based in Halifax - just reminded me that I want to visit Halifax again this year - love that city - and then on to St.Johns on the eastern coast of Newfoundland - we only saw the west coast last trip there

can never remember if St.John or St.John's - sorry

you go, Silverback!

The only other criticisms I'd have are that the game led you by the nose a bit too much and Ms. O'Day was a lot cooler than I'd have been if I were aboard a train with a bunch of crazed villains out to conquer the world with an army of clay men. (Shades of Flash Gordon!) <g>

In regard to "leading by the nose".

So many times when playing these adventure lite/hidden object games it seems like.... ok, what do I do next? Where do I go next? And that's when I have to go to a walkthrough... just to get pointed in the right direction. I loved the sparkles that showed me where to go next.... my only suggestion is that perhaps you could remove these "hints" for those more experienced players. What one person dislikes, others love.

Traveler doesn't like them, but I loved them. A choice at the beginning would satisfy experienced and inexperienced players and that equals more people buying the game.

Heigh-Ho, Silver!!! Terrific game. I'm about 3/4 of the way through. I'll be sorry when it ends. I think I missed Empress of the Deep. I'll be buying that too. Thanks for the enjoyment. Teddo

Hi, Janice!

I had no idea that Silverback Productions was a Canadian company either. Thanks for the info.

BTW, it's St. John, New Brunswick and St. John's, Newfoundland. I'm sure someone did that just to confuse us lol !

I'm halfway through my 1 hour demo time and certain I'm getting this one. A lot to like about this game. Great graphics, interesting story, good voice-overs. I'm reminded a bit of the Agatha Christie games - which are some of my all-time favorites.

Started to play the demo. Looked very interesting, but found it very sluggish on my computer. Also, the voices were far behind the written word. Very disappointed that it's a no-go for me. sad

Hi Willie,
Just a note to tell you that I loved the game - I played it 3 times just to make sure I got all the "canes". I am anxiously awaiting your next game. (I did have a problem with the voice being behind the picture but was still able to play it and enjoy it. I will probably try it on my laptop too as it is newer with newer graphic/sound cards.)
Keep up the great games - I also loved the Empress of the Deep.

Hi All. Wanted to stop in and say what a great game this is. I try not to use any hints so the game took me about 5 hours. I bought Empress of the Deep too and have played it twice. Thank you for the great games your company has given us.

We appreciate any feedback we get on these forums and use it to improve future games. Empress of the Deep was an outstanding success for us and we are working day and night to bring Empress 2 out in the fall. I'll keep you posted.

I just finished this one (part 1? a sequel due too? Great!) and enjoyed it very much. It has taken me 3 or 4 days to play it through once. Loved the graphics, music etc. And the hints or clues to move me along plus the w/t kept my interest. One question tho - what purpose do those 'canes' (bonus items) play - I had to go back to the w/t and count how many there are as I only had 12 and there appears to be enough 'slots' for 15 canes. End of game, no surprise frown What's up with that?
Love, Betty Lou

I liked the game, but decided to start it back to the beginning after buying it to better understand one thing... but I still am confused.

They show a candy cane as the bonus item. Next scene I find one and nothing happens when I click on it (Professor's front door). So is the bonus item always the candy cane or is it different each time?

Thanks.

Hi, NYLady!

As far as I know, the candy canes are the only bonus items, but I have no idea what their purpose is. Unlike "Salem Witch Trials" where you collect clovers, I don't think finding all of the candy canes unlocks any bonus features.

I didn't find all of the candy canes so maybe someone who did can let us know if anything happens.

There is a review on Gamezebo that comments on the candy canes, for anyone who cares to read it; read the next-to-last paragraph:

Thank you Marian, very interesting. It just puzzles me that there was a huge one hanging right on the Professor's front door and I clicked and clicked and nothing happened. Since it doesn't effect the outcome of the game...I'll just ignore it.

Caines (the villain) leaves two types of candy canes. The type that you eat and the jeweled metal ones. They are his calling card. The ones that you eat are scattered throughout the game and are just a plot device. the jeweled ones are bonus items.

There were twelve I just counted on the BF walkthrough. Have you compared them? Maybe one has different ones marked.
